While Konohamaru Sarutobi once was a fan-favorite character, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga has seen the character take a much more trivial role. The character becomes the advisor to the Hidden Leaf Village's new Hokage; however, his feats during a battle diminish exponentially.

This is especially evident from the fights against the God Trees as the character that fans once thought would become the Hokage after Naruto was forced to take the sidelines, allowing his students to face the big bad in the series. But the sheer fact that Konohamaru, being Naruto's student, was poised to become a Hokage one day suggests that he will get a major power-up in the series' future.

As a result, one Boruto fan has come up with a theory that sees Konohamaru become stronger due to the introduction of a rival. While the theory is outlandish and near-impossible, the developments would be very interesting to witness.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex: Log could be the key to Konohamaru's possible power-up

As per a theory by a Boruto fan on Reddit u/MitsukiOtsutsuki, while Konohamaru has been fighting strong opponents in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga, he needs a power-up if he wishes to stay relevant in the story. Evidently, God Tree Matsuri has chosen him as her target.

Therefore, the God Tree is bound to attack him sooner or later. This possibility begs for a development that sees Konohamaru receive a power-up strong enough to save his friend soon.

Many fans might think that Sage Mode is a viable option, but the theory suggests something entirely different. According to u/MitsukiOtsutsuki, Konohamaru needs a rival to become stronger, which in his case has to be Orochimaru's synthetic human and older clone brother of Mitsuki, Log. The reason he needs a rival is because every single memorable shinobi in history has had a rival. Thus, such a development could also benefit him.

It could be Log because Boruto anime's episode 175 saw Orochimaru implying Log's existence to Konohamaru. According to u/MitsukiOtsutsuki, Konohamaru will likely lose one of his eyes protecting his rival or someone else, following which Log could give him one of his Sage Mode eyes. This development is very similar to that of Kakashi and Obito's past.

Evidently, Log was unable to enter Sage Mode. However, the fan believes that the synthetic human could have an imperfect Sage Mode, allowing him to attain the yellow Byakugan-like eyes that Mitsuki was shown to have when he entered his Sage Transformation.

As per u/MitsukiOtsutsuki, those eyes could have special powers within them as they looked very similar to Momoshiki and Urashiki's yellow Byakugan eyes in the series. Therefore, possessing such a dojutsu should allow Konohamaru to attain new jutsu and abilities and possibly become the Boruto manga series Kakashi Hatake.

Such developments could effectively see Konohamaru far surpass his grandfather, Hiruzen Sarutobi, and several other respected shinobi within the Boruto universe. This would make him one of the strongest characters in the series, allowing him to fight Matsuri himself, a fight fans would love to witness.
