With the release of Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 264, the manga saw Yuji Itadori finally unleash his Domain Expansion. While the manga has yet to reveal the full functioning of the domain, one must admit Yuji Itadori has come a long way since the time he joined Jujutsu Tech.

Therefore, many fans would like to thank his teacher, Satoru Gojo, for the latest development in the manga. While the late sorcerer does deserve his flowers, Atsuya Kusakabe seemingly had a much bigger impact on Yuji Itadori's fight against Ryomen Sukuna. This is especially evident from the narration provided in the latest chapter.

Jujutsu Kaisen: How does Kusakabe have one over Gojo?

During the one-month training period before the Shinjuku Showdown Arc, Atsuya Kusakabe was responsible for training Yuji Itadori. He observed that because Ryomen Sukuna had taken over Yuji's body and utilized advanced cursed techniques, his body seemingly remembered the techniques and picked up on them.

Kusakabe wished to use the same logic to train Yuji. Thus, he asks Ui Ui to swap their souls with his Cursed Technique for him and Yuji. Such a development allowed Kusakabe to use his techniques while being in Yuji's body, effectively allowing the protagonist to quickly pick up on the basics of cursed energy manipulation, barrier techniques, and Simple Domain.

However, this training method not only helped Yuji learn the basics but also master the granted cursed techniques like Blood Manipulation and Shrine. This is because learning the basics of jujutsu sorcery usually takes a lot of time. But getting the hang of it by switching bodies with Kusakabe allowed Yuji to learn them quickly and use the knowledge to master other techniques within the same one-month span.

Evidently, this soul replacement training with Atsuya Kusakabe also helped Yuji forge his Domain Expansion. This is because the training sessions helped Yuji learn the basics of Barriers, which was a vital element for the Domain Expansion technique.

These pieces of evidence suggest that, despite Satoru Gojo having been the one to teach Yuji the most during their time in Jujutsu Tech, Kusakabe excelled in teaching him. This is because Gojo only managed to teach Yuji how to use Cursed Energy. However, Kusakabe taught Yuji the basics of cursed energy manipulation, barrier techniques, and Simple Domain.

This is how Atsuya Kusakabe has one over Satoru Gojo in the final arc of the manga series. While fans were eagerly waiting for the series protagonist to one day unleash his domain expansion against the King of Curses, it was none other than Kusakabe who made the development possible by giving Yuji all the tools necessary to activate his Domain Expansion for the first time.
