One Piece chapter 1119 came out on July 1, 2024, and the chapter showcased the reactions from the Dressrosa Kingdom. Despite showing reactions from almost every place and pirate crew on the Grand Line, there is one Blackbeard Pirates that is oddly absent from these reaction close-ups: Laffitte.
The chapter also saw Luffy attack Saint Marcus with an ultimate attack that was backed by Sanji, Franky, and Bonney. The climax of the chapter saw the Iron Giant emerging from the depths of the sea and punching Saint Warcury, breaking one of his teeth.
Not only was Laffitte not accompanying the Blackbeard Pirates that invaded Egghead, but he also hasn't even appeared during a reaction close-up. The inspiration behind his character could hint at his next actions. He could either be helping Big Mom for a return or something even bigger.

One Piece: Exploring the Role of the Blackbeard Pirate Laffitte
Laffitte, more commonly known as the Demon Sheriff, is the navigator of the Blackbeard Pirates and one of the Titanic Captains of Blackbeard's ships. Before joining the Blackbeard Pirates, he was a police officer in the West Blue, infamous for his acts of injustice and brutality.
He was exiled from his home country and, presumably, this was when he was appointed by Marshall D Teech as a member of his pirate crew. There are a lot of mysteries that surround Laffitte's character, be it his powers or anything else.
Laffitte can sprout out wings from his back, as seen during the Marineford War arc in One Piece. Where the series hints that this could be because of his unknown devil fruit, it also states that it could also be because of something else. His absence in the latest arc, Egghead Arc, implicates he could be up to something important.
The French Pirate Jean Lafitte could inspire Laffitte, otherwise known as the Terror of the Gulf. He shared similarities to the One Piece character, as he was also infamous for his ruthless behavior. The pirate is featured in a movie titled The Buccaneer as its main character.
As fans already know, the Buccaneer is a race in the series, a part of which is the former warlord Kuma. Although this movie doesn't give many hints about any powers, this connects the Blackbeard Pirates to the Buccaneer race, meaning that this race could sprout wings out of their backs.
As far as the Demon Sheriff's role in the series' goal, his inspiration could also be the key to it. The Terror of the Gulf was also famous for his friendship with Napoleon Bonaparte, the former Emperor of the French. A famous rumor regarding these characters indicates Lafitte saved Napolean from exile.
Napolean in One Piece is a weapon of Big Mom which she has used various times in the series. It is an object that was granted a soul by the Emperor, after which it transformed into a hat. It can also transform into a sword and be used in combat.
Considering how Napoleon Bonaparte and Jean Lafitte share such a deep connection, Laffitte is probably looking for Napoleon after the latter was defeated alongside Big Mom during the Wano arc by Trafalgar Law and Captain Kidd. So, he could appear on Elbaf Island with the return of Big Mom.
