Jujutsu Kaisen is a mere chapter away from drawing the curtains on what has been an epic series. Creator Gege Akutami has proven himself to be a genius in what he does, giving readers memorable characters, adrenaline-pumping action, mind-bending twists, and an immersive storyline. This truly was a journey that many will cherish for years to come.
In honor of Akutami's work, lovers of the series have taken to social media to share artwork and depictions of the same. As such, a recent piece of fanart has surfaced, showcasing the antagonist Ryomen Sukuna in what could be his most terrifying avatar yet. Here's what fans had to say about this particular piece of artwork.
Jujutsu Kaisen fanart unveils Sukuna's most ominous avatar yet
It took the might of Gojo Satoru and then later, the entirety of Team Jujutsu High to take down the King of Curses. He seemed to possess some type of counter for everything that was thrown at him. The sorcerers had to pull out all the stops, even the ones they didn't ever wish to resort to, to finally best Sukuna and ultimately save Megumi Fushiguro.
Thus, to appreciate such a well-written villain, an admirer of the series shared a visual of Sukuna. Amongst everything that has been seen of the Demon King so far, this might take the cake in being the most ominous. It showcases Sukuna clad in Japanese monk-style robes, with the outfit completed with an Eboshi Hat. His face appears to have four eyes with the right side of his face constructed differently and his overall look quite demonic.
Upon looking closely, this is quite an accurate representation of the Demon King. The headwear he sports, i.e., the Eboshi Hat, was primarily worn by nobles and samurai from the Heian Era to the Edo Period. It fits him since Sukuna did reign like a King and fought as well. His outfit resembles that of a monk, comparatively simple yet distinct. The potential horror of Sukuna seeps through even through this fanart.
Jujutsu Kaisen fans react to Sukuna's most menacing avatar yet
Fans were quite impressed by the artist's take on what a Heian Era Sukuna might look like. This was one thing that Akutami teased throughout the series but revealed very little about.
Sukuna was believed to be at the peak of his powers during that period, shattering any power scaling and having no one who could realistically rival his might. Thus, he stood alone at the top, ruling like a monarch as none dared challenge or upset him.
"woooow I like it," a user commented.
Many fans expressed appreciation for the work done. By now, there are multiple pieces of artwork for various Jujutsu Kaisen characters and each one is as impressive as the last. Similarly, there are plenty of artworks of Sukuna, and so far, this looks to be one that might have won the most hearts.
"Sukuna+ tengen = Sukugen Sama," a fan wrote.
Some fans took a different route and likened the artwork to what Sukuna and Master Tengen from Demon Slayer merged would look like. Calling it Sukugen Sama, they viewed it as a combination between the two - the King of Curses and the Star. If something so crazy were to happen, Sukuna's already overwhelming power would be boosted beyond imagination and likely make him immortal yet unstable.
"Well, that doesn't seem very pretty anymore, let's say," a fan opined.
Another section of fans was more honest than others, stating that this new look didn't look "very pretty anymore." This is a testament to how terrifying Sukuna can actually be. Coupled with this grotesque appearance, it is his ruthless nature and frightening powers that make him a horrifying foe.
Finally, the Sukuna-lovers stepped forth to bask in the glory of their favorite character. A considerable section of fans fell in love with Sukuna the moment he was introduced and those feelings only grew as he pulled off impressive feats throughout the story.
