Dragon Ball Daima had a trailer this Friday, much to the excitement of people who were craving some new content regarding this project, but there was a major disappointment with the character of Glorio, a demon gunslinger. That is because the character's design looked extremely similar to that of Mira, an artificial Demon King from the Dragon Ball Online and Dragon Ball Xenoverse video games.
While this design is not going to make or break the Dragon Ball Daima project, it did have people questioning the credibility of the production to a degree. There has been criticism aimed at this new series because of the premise of Goku turning into a kid again, with a lot of people calling it a "GT ripoff", so a character design reminiscent of the video games did rub some fans the wrong way.

Dragon Ball Daima gets criticism over recent Glorio and Mira designs controversy
A Dragon Ball Daima trailer came out this Friday and while the reception was mostly positive, it did have some comments from people pointing out the design of the demon gunslinger, Glorio. This new character has a very similar design to one of the antagonists of the Xenoverse video games, Mira.
It is fair to say that this reaction didn't help Toei's fortunes, which is very ironic when considering that fans craving new trailers and visuals for this project. However, the problem came when they saw Glorio since his design rubbed people the wrong way because of the lack of creativity, which is something that this anime in particular didn't need to hear.
While it is fair to say that Glorio and Mira do come from the Demon Clan (or at least that seems to be the case, based on the trailer) so similar looks can be feasible, fans have been criticizing this project for sharing the GT idea of turning Goku into a kid, giving a feel of repetitiveness and lack of fresh ideas. It is unfair to make that claim when the anime is still not out but this combination of elements didn't help the optics.
Reactions online
When it comes to reactions in the fandom, the growing frustration with the project has been felt with the recent comments regarding Glorio's design. Dragon Ball Daima is already sharing a similar fate to the 2022 film, Super Hero, which also didn't get a lot of marketing from Toei and it seems that the company has not learned the lesson in that regard.
This is particularly frustrating to a lot of people because author Akira Toriyama sadly passed away on March 1 of this year and this was the last project he was involved with, which is why fans wanted a bit more support behind this anime. In that regard, the recent design discussion has not helped the optics in that department.
"i knew he looked familiar lol," someone said.
"This is Glorio from Demon Realm and most likely he is some kind of demonic assassin. Someone say he looks like Granolah, but I think he looks more like Hit. But yes, they clearly took the main design from games," another person said.
"Mira before he lost his eyebrows and got that line on his cheeks," someone else said.
While the idea of exploring the Demon Clan in Dragon Ball Daima is something that a lot of fans are looking forward to, the premise through this lens has not been the most exciting. However, people need to wait and see the series before making any serious statements about it.
"Toriyama wrote the plot for Dragon Ball Online. I think we can consider Mira and Towa to be canon. Which means it's normal for demons similar to them to appear. And having been, Mira, created by Towa. Who knows if this character wasn't the inspiration for Mira?" someone said.
"Imagine if it was like an android 16 type thing. Like towa made Mira by using Glorio as his template like how gero made 16 by using his son Gevo as his template," another person said.
Dragon Ball Daima is due to come out in October of this year and that is when fans will be able to make a stronger analysis of the series.
