One Piece fans are known for coming up with different theories for their favorite series. One such recent theory is connected to the dreams that Luffy and Blackbeard have, which could serve as a contrast between the two. These two characters have regularly served as direct mirrors of one another, and now, there is a good chance that their goals could be a reflection of the other's goals.

Luffy has already stated that his true dream is not to get the One Piece but the story is yet to reveal what he truly wants. His true dream could be a reflection of Blackbeard's dream, which was recently revealed to be the creation of a pirate kingdom. However, the main difference is what they would do with said dream and the ramifications this could have for the entirety of their world.

How Blackbeard's dream could be a dark reflection of Luffy's in One Piece

It has been established in the series that Blackbeard serves as a dark reflection of Luffy, to the point that they have similar goals, similar approaches to things, and overall, one could say they are meant to be each other's opposite. However, Teach's goal to turn Hachinosu into a kingdom for pirates could be the biggest hint of what Luffy's real dream is and how he plans to achieve it.

There is a strong argument to be made that Luffy's goal is to create a place where people can be free and always have a great time, which fits with his rather innocent and childish way of looking at life.

On the other hand, Blackbeard would probably side with the World Government just to get the territory he wants so pirates can cause chaos without any issues.

Luffy wants freedom to simply enjoy himself while Blackbeard's idea of being free is being able to hurt and cause destruction without any kind of repercussion. This could be fully explored by having them want to create their own kingdoms as the way they go about it will be different.

The importance of Blackbeard in the story

There is no denying that Blackbeard is one of the characters that has generated the most expectations within the One Piece fandom. A lot of fans consider him to be the potential final boss of the series because of his duality with Luffy and there have been several theories of how he could topple the World Government to become the ultimate threat in the series.

There is also the fact that the Blackbeard Pirates have proven to be a very dangerous foe to deal with throughout the story, oftentimes getting things done without much effort.

Considering that Luffy still has a vendetta against Blackbeard because of the death of Ace, there is a good chance that Eiichiro Oda is setting up a confrontation between these two crews.

Final thoughts

It is likely that Blackbeard and Luffy both want to create lands where people can be free, although the former will focus on the corrupt and the latter on good-hearted individuals. This is something that could be a defining moment of the One Piece universe and would define their characters as well.
