The journeys of Luffy and Shanks in One Piece might collide since they are close allies with Dorry and Brogy. This might see their crews collide, which is already expected by the fandom. However, their fight might be unexpected and have some different rules than usual, all centered around the alliance with the giants and the issue of the next ruler of Elbaph.

Shanks and Luffy might collide in a Davy Back Fight but with new rules that Foxy unveiled. Moreover, this puts into question the origins of this game, considering how only Nico Robin was partial to its origins from the Pirate Island. Being an ally of the giants might be the thing at stack, plus the title of the Sun God and the next succession of Elbaph might also see them go against each other.

One Piece: Exploring the destined fight between Shanks and Luffy

The Davy Back Fight is a historical battle introduced in One Piece's Long Ring Long Land arc. During this arc, the Straw Hat Pirates went against the Foxy Pirates to recruit new crewmates by putting them at stake in a battle. However, this fight might not have introduced all the rules of this historical game.

As stated by Nico Robin, this fight originated from the Pirate Island. But the truth might be different since Robin was the only one to mention it. It might have its origins in Elbaph Island, as hinted by the games Dory and Brogy played at Little Garden in One Piece.

So, with new rules, this fight might be featured between Luffy and his old mentor, Shanks. Before Luffy and his crew, the Kid Pirates had arrived at Elbaph Island as they won the bet against Luffy and Law. They met the Red-Hair Pirates on this island and were demolished. This fight also revealed that the giants were Shanks's close allies.

Like Shanks, the giants are also close allies with Luffy, so the first thing at stake between these two crews might be their friendship with the giants (more specifically, their alliance for the future after Elbaph). The second thing at stake between these pirate crews might be their roles in making the next successor of Elbaph.

Loki's relationship with Shanks is still a mystery, and how he jokes with Luffy indicates that he is an ally of Shanks and is just testing Luffy's devotion to him. With Loki being one of the successors backed by Shanks, Luffy might support Hajrudin because the latter is a part of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet.

Lastly, the biggest thing at stake might be the status of the Sun God, for which Luffy and Loki might fight. As stated, Shanks might have some alliance (probably temporary) with Loki. He might assist the prince of Elbaph, which could be enough reason for the Straw Hat Pirates to fight Red-Hair Pirates.

Final thoughts

Take this theory with a grain of salt because it forms a relationship between Loki and Shanks, which might seem illogical to most fans. While it is allowed to speculate when something isn't defined, it is advised not to take such words too seriously and just as entertainment.
