Medalist is a sports-drama anime series airing in the Winter 2025 Anime Season. The series is one of the most influential ones as it follows the theme of pursuing your dreams no matter how hard they might be. Animation studio ENGI (Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out) is animating the series.

What's amazing about this series is its staff, specifically its choreographers, many of whom are professional ice skaters. There is even an Olympic ice skater choreographing the series. As of this article's publication, the series has only aired one episode. However, the entire release date schedule has been released, revealing that it will be a single cour series with 13 episodes.

How many episodes will Medalist have?

Medalist episode 1 was released on January 5, 2025, at 1.30 am (according to Japanese Standard Time). It was broadcast on Japanese TV channels like TV Asahi and related ones. For international fans, it was streamed on Disney+. The series' second episode is set to be released on January 12, 2025.

As the release date schedule was already released, here is the entire schedule of Medalist's episodes, according to Pacific Time (PT), Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), and Indian Standard Time (IST), accompanied by their release dates and timings:

The above-mentioned schedule doesn't consider the 'delays' that might arise from production issues or unrelated TV screenings. So, a single delay might alter the entire release date schedule because a one-week delay will shift the schedule to one week further.

Fortunately, Studio ENGi or the Medalist's production team have not announced any specific delay as of the publication of this article.

Medalist will be aired every week, according to its fixed airing timings, on Japanese TV channels like TV Asahi (NUMAnimation timeslot), BS Asahi, and CS TV Asahi. Moreover, the series will be streamed on Japanese streaming sites like ABEMA, Niconico, d Anime store, and many others (just like the other anime airing in the Winter 2025 anime season).

Disney+ will air all the episodes internationally, with English subtitles. The series isn't on Crunchyroll's Winter 2025 anime lineup. Meanwhile, Hulu will air the series locally (in the United States).

What to expect from Medalist anime

The anime is a sports-drama series featuring the story of Inori, a passionate 11-year-old aspiring to become an ice skater, and Tsukasa, an ice skater on the brink of changing his career due to its low pay grade. The series' first episode introduced both protagonists with Tsukasa traveling from Yokohama Prefecture in case of a job opportunity.

After an ' interesting ' encounter, Inori and Tsukasa met and exchanged greetings. Inori told Tsukasa about her dream, which worried the latter about her future. So, he gave Inori a chit, in which he wrote about the salaries of ice skaters at different levels. Tsukasa told Inori to give the chit to her mother and see if she could contact any agency.

The next day, Tsukasa met his colleague (who called him for a job opportunity). She offered him to become a 'coach,' which Tsukasa was very skeptical about. While they discussed this, a mother walked in with her child. This was Inori's mother who walked in with her child to inquire about her child's future. Unfortunately, she was adamant about Inori abandoning her dream.

However, Tsukasa kept a cool head and wanted Inori to do basic drills. Even after Inori proved her worth as a talented person, the mother wasn't ready to give her child an opportunity to pursue her dreams. Ultimately, Tsukasa volunteered to become Inori's coach in exchange for her pursuit of her dream. With no probable cause, Inori's mother agreed, and Inori started her career as an ice skater.
