Megumi and Hana's ship might never sail in Jujutsu Kaisen and the latest chapter hints at it

Jujutsu Kaisen has only one chapter left to go in the manga, and while a lot of fans think there is going to be a sequel, it hasn't been confirmed yet. Meanwhile, author Gege Akutami needs to close several subplots. In that regard, there is a very good chance that the Megumi Fushiguro and Hana Kurusu ship is never going to take place.

It has been established from the moment Hana was introduced in Jujutsu Kaisen that she was in love with Megumi, and a lot of fans were expecting a conclusion of sorts for this plot point, but that doesn't seem to be the case. The most recent chapters have probably concluded Hana's role in the story when considering there is only one chapter left to go, which is something that is going to be divisive to a lot of people.

Jujutsu Kaisen is very likely to never confirm the Megumi and Hana ship in the story

The most recent chapter had Hana Kurusu and Megumi Fushiguro talking, but the former's romantic feelings for the latter were never addressed, which means that there is a very good chance their ship is never going to happen. That is a small subplot that a lot of fans were interested in, which is something that is bound to be disappointing with the series' conclusion.

Hana was saved by Megumi from the threat of Curse when they were kids, and this inspired her to help people. While this inspiration was quite notorious as Hana fully united with Angel in their quest to destroy Ryomen Sukuna, a lot of fans wanted a resolution between her and Megumi, especially considering that she had trouble trying to destroy the King of Curses when he was in the latter's body.

However, there is no time left in the manga to address this possible relationship, and author Gege Akutami never gave Megumi enough focus on that front. This ship was extremely one-sided, which is why there is very little chance that is going to change with just one chapter.

What can happen to both characters in the final chapter

It is very likely that Hana Kurusu is not going to have a major role to play in the final Jujutsu Kaisen chapter because her mission to destroy Sukuna has been completed. There is perhaps going to be a panel or page dedicated to explaining what she is going to do now, but it doesn't seem that she is going to have a great role to play in the ending.

On the other hand, Megumi Fushiguro is one of the main characters, so his role is going to be a major one. It is likely that he is going to share a special moment or two with the likes of Yuji Itadori and Nobara Kugisaki while perhaps paying tribute to their teacher, Satoru Gojo.

Final thoughts

It seems that the ship between Hana Kurusu and Megumi Fushiguro in Jujutsu Kaisen is not going to take place. The manga no longer has enough space to deal with this relationship, and Akutami never developed any romantic feelings from Megumi toward Hana, which is something that is too late to fix.
