Megumi might now be one of Jujutsu Kaisen's strongest sorcerers, and he has Sukuna to thank for it

In Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 268, Megumi Fushiguro was finally freed from Ryomen Sukuna's clutches, thanks to the combined efforts of Yuji Itadori and Nobara Kugisaki.

Throughout the Shinjuku Showdown arc, Yuji Itadori was driven by two primary goals - reaching Megumi's soul and separating Sukuna from his body. However, irrespective of his persistent efforts, Yuji struggled to convince Megumi to fight back and take back control of his body. That said, in one of the most crucial moments in chapter 268, Megumi regained his fighting spirit and helped Yuji to separate Sukuna from his body.

While Sukuna's possession of Megumi's body may have left the latter with irreparable psychological and physical scars, it may have also inadvertently made him one of the strongest sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen, which is something that readers may realize upon reflecting on Yuji's rapid growth as a Jujutsu sorcerer.

How Sukuna may have inadvertently made Megumi one of the strongest sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen

Yuji Itadori's exponential growth as a Jujutsu sorcerer during the Shinjuku Showdown arc was nothing short of a spectacle. Each time Sukuna knocked him down, Yuji got back up, much stronger than before. Throughout the fight, he received multiple powerups, including Blood Manipulation, Reverse Cursed Technique, Simple Domain, and his own Domain Expansion.

However, the one ability that helped Yuji get one step closer to victory was none other than Ryomen Sukuna's Shrine cursed technique. As fans may recall, Satoru Gojo had once predicted that Sukuna's cursed technique and other abilities would eventually be engraved in Yuji's body.

His prediction came true in the recent chapters of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga. Yuji unlocked most of Sukuna's abilities after going through an awakening, which was triggered by his consecutive Black Flash hits on the King of Curses.

It was also much easier for Yuji to learn the Reverse Cursed Technique compared to other sorcerers, as Sukuna had frequently used the technique while being inside his body. As a result, Yuji's rapid progression as a Jujutsu sorcerer can be mostly attributed to Sukuna's influence on his body.

Since Yuji was able to become one of the strongest sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen largely due to Sukuna's influence, it would be fair to assume that the King of Curses' hold on Megumi's body may have significantly enhanced Megumi's strength as well.

While possessing Megumi's body, Sukuna had effectively utilized both his own abilities and the former's to the fullest extent. In fact, he was able to bring out the full potential of Megumi's Ten Shadows technique and use it to defeat Gojo, which is a feat that no other sorcerer had been able to accomplish before.

Therefore, Megumi growing much stronger than before due to Sukuna's influence on his body certainly isn't outside the realm of possibilities, especially if we consider the effect of Sukuna's presence on Yuji's body.

It has been explicitly stated before that much of Yuji's growth as a sorcerer was due to the "Special Grade sorcery" performed on his body by Sukuna. In a way, the same could be assumed for Megumi if we look at everything Sukuna did while in his body. At the very least, Megumi should now theoretically be capable of completing his Domain or manipulating his shikigami at the same level as Sukuna, if not more.

Although this is mere speculation as of now, Megumi achieving his full potential and becoming one of the strongest sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen is something that fans have been anticipating for a long time.

Even Satoru Gojo had acknowledged Megumi's potential as a sorcerer, believing he could surpass him someday. Therefore, it wouldn't be too far-fetched to hope that Megumi would receive a much-needed powerup and finally live up to his mentor's words before the manga concludes.
