Jujutsu Kaisen is 265 chapters in, and there is yet no sign of Megumi Fushiguro. Ryomen Sukuna looks to be doing everything he can to prevent Team Jujutsu High from undoing his control over his boy's body. While Yuji Itadori has come the closest to saving his friend, it ultimately proved insufficient.
But what if creator Gege Akutami already has something big in store for the Ten Shadows user? What if, instead of Yuji, it is Megumi who emerges as the most powerful sorcerer of the modern age? That is exactly what a recent theory seems to be addressing with a reasonable argument.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Megumi's comeback could make him extremely powerful and its all thanks to Gojo and Sukuna
In a nutshell, this new Jujutsu Kaisen theory credits Gojo and Sukuna for making Megumi the strongest sorcerer around. To elucidate, we begin with when Gojo and Sukuna clashed. Since both used their respective Domains, it was revealed that Megumi took the brunt of Unlimited Void. Fearing the worst, fans' concerns were eased when Yuji got through and found a broken Megumi, unwilling to continue.
The theory suggests that Unlimited Void affects the soul and the body differently. When Gojo fought Jogo, and then during the Shibuya Incident, Unlimited turned all those in it into a vegetative state, more so humans. This is because of differences in biology. Now, when Unlimited Void hit Sukuna, it damaged Megumi's brain, resulting in Sukuna being unable to use Malevolent Shrine briefly.
It should be noted that the statements mentioned above do not discount the effect of Unlimited Void on the soul but establish that the soul is likely affected differently. This aspect hasn't been explored very much in Jujutsu Kaisen. However, it is impossible that Sukuna used Megumi's soul to sponge Unlimited Void, which did nothing to it. Megumi's soul is going to be affected in some way.
The theory further builds up and speculates what this might mean for Megumi, which is as follows: Unlimited Void forces its target to experience an "infinite" amount of stimuli at once, often stunning them. With this in mind, we refer back to Todo Aoi teaching Yuji about Cursed Energy (CE) use. Simply put, he explained to Yuji that sorcerers existed as a whole rather than a combination of body parts, which bettered the CE flow in their bodies.
Applying the same simplification here, Unlimited Void would simultaneously overwhelm all of Megumi's senses. With Sukuna in control, he could likely not face the drawbacks of the technique. This would mean that Megumi may become hyper-aware of how his body and soul synergize and how this synergy behaves with the world around him.
Further, this would permit him to emulate Sukuna's high level of CE control. Yuji's body pulled this off, which allowed him to learn and use complex techniques easily. Similarly, Megumi would experience the same and in much less time. Moreover, Sukuna's repeated use of the Shrine technique would also be imprinted on his body.
In conclusion
Considering the statements mentioned above, if Megumi does manage to emerge from this, he will definitely be on a whole other level. With the strongest beings no more, Megumi Fushiguro will be Jujutsu Kaisen's most powerful. With an unimaginable level of CE control and flow and Sukuna's techniques coupled with the Ten Shadows, there might be no one who could realistically oppose him.
But once more, it is important to mention that this is, after all, just speculation. At this point, there are countless theories on Megumi and, consequently, how the series might end. Each one is intriguing to read and understand as they portray fans' opinions. But ultimately, only time will reveal what's in store.
