MF Ghost season 2 episode 6, titled The Devil of Ashinoko Skyline, picks up with the Lake Ashinoko GT race as the rain eases, allowing drivers to continue without any more accidents. The volcanic ash from Mt. Fuji poses yet another threat to most of the racers. However, there are some racers, like Kanata, who are able to turn this into an advantage.
In the previous episode, Ishigami momentarily let his emotions get the better of him, which led to him losing control of his car and falling back significantly in the race. Meanwhile, Kanata continued to impress despite the rain.

The White Devil returns gets in MF Ghost season 2 episode 6
Brief episode highlights
In MF Ghost season 2 episode 6, Aiba easily overtakes Taylor. When Ikeda, who mentored Aiba at the academy, is asked about him, he says that Aiba was never really exceptional. He said Aiba had great driving instincts but needed to work on his mindset, as he was hot-headed, which often led him to exert himself and wear down his tires.
As the rain eases off, Ikeda remarks that the track will likely remain wet for the duration of the race. Kanata, however, believes that the puddles that had been helping him are soon going to dry up. He's hoping to overtake Maezono and create enough of a gap between them so that Maezono will not be able to catch up later.
Meanwhile, in MF Ghost season 2 episode 6, the rain gives way to the return of volcanic ash, which covers the track in thick fog. The fog, known as the White Devil, significantly reduces visibility. However, MFG's GM, Joyu, decides to keep the race going, despite having doubts about his decision.
But he gains confidence from Ikeda, who reflects on the founding principles of MFG. He says that the company believes in racing in tough conditions. He remembers a previous race in Hakone where, despite heavy rain, fog and a challenging environment, the top racers used the adversity to their advantage. These racers are now part of the core administration within MFG.
As Maezono enters the fog, he slows down which allows Kanata to pass him and take fourth place. Kanata also closes in on Akaba and manages to take the lead. But as he emerges from the fog, he feels dissatisfied with his performance.
MF Ghost season 2 episode 6 review
In MF Ghost season 2 episode 6, the story becomes more engaging as Kanata, like the viewers of the anime, and the subscribers of MFG, becomes increasingly absorbed in the race. His growing passion is a notable shift in his character, offering a refreshing contrast to his previous air of detachment.
The episode also delves into the mental and emotional states of various characters, emphasizing the psychological toll the high-stakes race has on them. Each decision they make carries weight.
Sawatari, in the lead, is seen to be under immense pressure, not only for being the pacemaker but also for navigating through thick fog. Meanwhile, Beckenbauer, who is just behind, remains relaxed, waiting for the right moment to make his move.
MF Ghost season 2 episode 5 recap
In the previous episode, Ishigami thought his Porsche’s rear-engine design gave him added advantage over other racers. However, Akaba saw that Ishigami was being overly confident and slowing down other racers, so he closed in and nudged Ishigami's car, trying to unsettle him. Ishigami responded by accelerating, but his car skidded off course. He was then forced to stop and let other cars pass before rejoining the race.
Meanwhile, Ren was being interviewed. She shared her dream of visiting her grandmother’s home in Niigata, a place she hadn't seen in five years due to her father’s job. Another MFG Angel, Kyoko, meanwhile, shared that she wanted to relax at the beach, enjoying a refreshing tropical fruit drink.
Final Thoughts
MF Ghost season 2 episode 6 thus provides viewers with more insight into the characters, their growt, and also expert commentary. If Kanata's driving skills keep viewers hooked, Ikeda's analyses of the race and anecdotes keep them interested.
