In Boruto Two Blue Vortex chapter 14, released on September 21, Mitsuki grabbed the spotlight as he became the reason for the protagonist's escape. This was a throwback to Mitsuki's beliefs of thinking of the protagonist as the 'Sun.'

Being born to Orochimaru, Mitsuki was supposed to follow the same dark pathway. Boruto's entry into his life changed everything because the protagonist opened the possibility of new pathways that were different from his fate, leading to the protagonist becoming his 'Sun.' However, the latest chapter showed the reverse, but the meaning of 'Sun' remained the same.

Boruto Two Blue Vortex chapter 14 focused on the protagonist's interrogation after the Hidden Leaf shinobi caught him. With the village leaders also present in the interrogation room, the situation became risky when the protagonist refrained from revealing his information source.

This provoked Ibiki into physically assaulting the protagonist. Shikamaru, watching from outside the room, speculated that this could lead to the protagonist's demise if the situation didn't improve. So, Shikamaru requested Ino to help him, but she rejected him because it would have been illegal.

So, Shikamaru had no choice but to rely on Mitsuki, who had a bloodlust against the protagonist (because Boruto was perceived as the village traitor). Mitsuki was given a 'mission' to save the protagonist, which would also prevent him from killing the protagonist.

Mitsuki went into the interrogation room and was provoked by the protagonist, which allowed Mitsuki to unlock the protagonist's chains and set him free. The protagonist then fetched his weapons and fled without a moment's delay.

While Mitsuki's entry was entirely out of nowhere, it was still a throwback to his relationship with the protagonist, considering how these two shared a strong bond in the past, as the protagonist was Mitsuki's 'Sun.'

Since he was born to Orochimaru, one of the antagonists in Naruto, Mitsuki was destined to follow the path of evil just like his guardian. However, before it was too late, he found Naruto's son, who opened the possibility of new pathways for him to follow, one of which was to help the protagonist achieve his dream of becoming a strong shinobi.

The reverse happened in chapter 14 of the sequel series, where the protagonist was going down the pathway that could led to his demise. So, Mitsuki interfered, as random as it may be, and opened a pathway for Boruto, which assured his survival by becoming his 'Sun.'

After the Omnipotence Incident, Mitsuki didn't feel like Kawaki was his 'Sun' because he had replaced identities with the protagonist. So, Mitsuki helping the protagonist could also hint at him unlocking his true memories.
