Momentary Lily episode 1 recap
Momentary Lily episode 1, titled "After Being Alone," began with a bang and quickly dived into the action. Viewers are greeted by the series' main cast: five distinct high school girls casually seated at what looks to be a cafe. Amidst their conversation, one of the girls alerts the others to the arrival of something.
Wasting no time, the girls dash to a city square where an odd machine spawns a giant body that begins wreaking havoc. One by one, the girls reveal fantastic and unique weapons that materialize from their respective pendants. In a well-timed and coordinated burst of teamwork, the girls effortlessly beat the robot before setting off to a nearby store.
Viewers are then introduced to Renge Kasumi. She was apparently the last human alive when the robots or Wild Hands invaded. They had wiped out all life, but she managed to survive. Roaming the streets aimlessly, she stumbled upon the other girls and was overwhelmed when introductions were over.
At this point, the other people are also introduced: Yuri Kawazu, Hinageshi Usuzumi, Ayame Sakuya, Sazanaka Yoshino, and Erika Koudaiji. Along with battling giant robots, Momentary Lily should also focus on cooking, which is what happens next. Noticing that her newfound pals were about to begin their meal, Renge shot off on a different tangent.
Since all life was wiped out, the girls had to survive on canned food and instant noodles. According to Renge, these were good, but it would be tastier if they could "kappou" them. Roughly translated, the word means "to prepare food," which is what Renge did. She amazed the girls with her cooking skills by elevating their instant noodles to something gourmet.
These were wholesome moments to watch, yet short-lived, as the girls were alerted to more Wild Hands' arrival. Here, the series takes another interesting turn and introduces Renge's unique weapon.
In one swift motion, she destroys the two spawned Wild Hands, shocking the girls further. This is where viewers learn that the weapons are called Andvari, each unique to its wielder. It is also revealed that Renge has lost her memories, while the others still seem to have theirs.
What to expect from Momentary Lily episode 2
Following a considerably good start, expectations for Momentary Lily episode 2 will be high. GoHands has shown the kind of work and effort it has invested in this series, thanks to the visually stunning effects, unique character designs, and introduction to the story. Momentary Lily episode 2 should feature another battle or two against the robots termed Wild Hands. This time, the Wild Hands could be slightly different, and more light might be shed on their origin and purpose.
The series will likely look to develop Renge's character in relation to the other girls and possibly start with the group's leader, Yuri Kawazu.
