Dandadan opening theme song took over the internet as soon as it was uploaded online and so did Momo's dance that was featured in the song. Where the opening song got known for its amazing choreography and shots, a possible inspiration for it was unknown. So, the fandom thought of it as the genius of the animators.

However, one moment in the song could be inspired by an old song by famous singer Rihanna. The track featured the vocalist doing the same dance step, in two parts of the music video, confirming that Momo's dance could indeed have an inspiration behind it.

Dandadan: Exploring Rihanna's song as the inspiration behind Momo's dance

Dandadan opening song, titled Otonoke and performed by Japanese band Creepy Nuts, showcased the entire cast that would appear in the first season. Every character was seen performing dance steps that fit the beat of the song and so did the female protagonist, Momo Ayase.

However, one dance step of Momo gained hype all over the internet which was when she danced in front of Ken and Jin. This dance step became famous for its funky tone and Momo's ability to match the beat of the song. To the surprise of some fans, this dance step could be inspired by an old track by Barbadian singer Rihanna.

Released in April 2012, the single Where Have You Been featured Rihanna performing a step similar to what Momo did in the Dandadan opening song, but it was divided into two parts (timestamps = 1:45 and 2:05). Witnessing this, the fans couldn't hold it together and took to the internet to express their amazement.

In addition to the feeling of amazement, the fans were thankful to the X user who pointed out this easter egg to them. On the other hand, a part of the fandom was also adamant about claiming that they had seen Momo's dance before, pointing out that they were expecting it to be inspired by a famous music video.

Funnily enough, some fans claimed that Momo did the step better than Rihanna, hinting the inspiration was outclassed by the inspired. Lastly, one fan spoke the voice of the fandom and wanted a whole X thread featuring every inspiration behind the opening theme song.

"I thought that I had seen that movement somewhere," a fan said.
"Thanks for pointing this out," another fan said.
"Ayase did it better," another fan claimed.
"Is there a thread for all the references?" another one said.

Looking at how accurately both scenes resemble each other, there is a little chance of this sequence being a coincidence, meaning that Momo's dance in the opening theme song could be inspired by Rihanna's track. There are chances that one of the animators who created the opening song was a huge fan of the Barbadian singer and this could be him paying homage to his favorite singer.
