Boruto: Two Blue Vortex fans are abuzz with a new fan theory that could explain more about Momoshiki and his real identity. This theory suggests that Momoshiki may be quite different from the other Otsutsuki that we have encountered in the series.
Some evidence in the manga series suggest why his identity has been hidden in the manga series and that there are layers to him that haven’t been revealed. What we do know at this point is that he and Boruto share a symbiotic relationship. Momoshiki used his Karma seal to resurrect the protagonist’s body.
For quite some time now, the protagonist has become a full-fledged Otsutsuki, and a particular chapter in the Two Blue Vortex manga series hinted at Momoshiki’s interference. Let’s take a look at the fan theory that attempts to explain Momoshiki’s real identity and how the link to Shibai could be revealed in the following chapters.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex fan theory attempts to explain Momoshiki Otsutsuki’s real identity in the manga series
In short, a fan theory posted on the r/Boruto thread on Reddit suggests that Momoshiki Otsutsuki may be a mere clone of Shibai Otsutsuki, who was introduced later in the manga series. Shibai is portrayed as an Otsutsuki God with powers far beyond imagination. His abilities were so immense that he transcended the physical plane, no longer requiring a body. This forms the crux of this theory.
When an Otsutsuki uses the Karma seal, the host body develops horns similar to the Otsutsuki entity that resides within them. However, there is one anomaly in this case, and that is none other than Boruto himself. His horn resembles that of Shibai Otsutsuki. This was the first evidence that could suggest the potential link between the protagonist, Shibai, and Momoshiki.
This theory suggests that Shibai was someone who discarded the physical body and transcended this plane after consuming one too many Chakra Fruits. One of the main reasons for discarding that body could be due to its inability to withstand the power he had. He may need a stronger vessel, someone whose physical body can withstand the powers that he possesses.
Therefore, he sent many of his clones, one of whom could be Momoshiki, to obtain a vessel that could host him. This could also support the animated reaction that Momoshiki had when the protagonist had himself killed.
Fans speculate that the mark present on Boruto is Shibai's and that Momoshiki is a mere clone of the actual Otsutsuki God. Additionally, Momoshiki seems to know more about Shibai's divinity and how to achieve it when compared to some of the other Otsutsuki members.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex could make this the grand reveal and introduce Otsutsuki God as the final antagonist that Boruto and his comrades need to face during the series.
