One Piece, despite how long it is and the numerous projects associated with it, such as the Live Action series, video games, and an upcoming new anime, has garnered a huge fanbase that consistently shows its support. This popularity is frequently evident on social media platforms, where fans actively post and share manga panels, clips from both the anime and live-action adaptations, and fan art.

One of the popular ways for fans to express their admiration for any series or character is through cosplaying. A recent post by a Reddit user dressed as Gol D. Roger has received a lot of positive feedback from the One Piece community. The cosplayer has successfully captured the distinct appearance, which includes a pirate hat adorned with his Jolly Roger, a red coat, a white cravat, a blue shirt, and a yellow sash, and has also captured the demeanor of the Pirate King.

One Piece fan and cosplayer, known on Reddit as EvilOdysseus, recently shared four photographs of himself dressed as the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger. In his post, he proudly mentioned that he created the entire costume himself, and the impressive mustache is completely natural.

One particular photo that features him posing with Polly Woodside is a three-masted, iron-hulled barque ship preserved in Melbourne, Australia, in the background. The ship adds to the feeling that it is a scene right out of a live-action version of the series.

The Redditor shared his reasons for deciding to cosplay as Gol D. Roger. First, he pointed out that Gol D. Roger, the legendary pirate who initiated the Golden Age of Piracy and inspired characters like Luffy to go on a journey to find the treasure at Laugh Tale, has been largely overlooked by cosplayers. This lack of attention motivated them to bring the character to life.

Moreover, the Redditor mentioned that he dislikes staying clean-shaven, and since Gol D. Roger has a beard, it was a convenient choice for him.

What kind of praise has the Gol D. Roger cosplayer received from One Piece fans?

Fans of One Piece have already seen Gol D. Roger come to life in the first season of the Live Action series, with Michael Dorman playing the iconic role. However, Redditor EvilOdysseus has received a lot of praise from the community for his careful attention to detail, as he has managed to bring the legendary character to life with remarkable accuracy. Here are some of the comments from Redditors.

“Looks more realistic than the live action one to me,” wrote a Redditor.
“You’re the first person I’ve seen cosplay as Roger! Looking good,” remarked another Redditor.
“WHOA!! Nails the Roger vibe!!! I’ve never seen a Roger cosplay so this feels super fresh!!,” another user expressed their excitement.

There are a bunch of comments, particularly on the mustache, which, as already stated, is completely natural:

“The mustache really makes the cosplay,” wrote a Redditor.
“I love how piratey and not costumey you look! You even grew your mustache! Awesome!” Praised another Redditor, admiring the effort put into the cosplay.
“Now we need one of you laughing,” a user playfully remarked.

Many have asked him to enact certain scenes. There are also lots of jokes, as expected of social media.

“Cos play. Right. You can’t fool me. Now, tell me what the one piece is!” wrote one fan.
“I want to sail with you captian,” joked another.

There are hardly any negative comments, which is great to see. The praise seems justified, given how accurate and pleasing the costume looks. Many thought that if the cosplayer featured in some adaptation of Eiichiro Oda's manga dressed like that, with some post-production, he would look majestic.
