After receiving the letter from Geese, who is requesting his assistance in Begaritt continent’s Rapan Labyrinth, Rudeus is skeptical about his next step, given he already has too many responsibilities.

From taking care of his sisters to being with his pregnant wife, Rudeus has a hard time deciding whether to lend a hand to his father, Paul Greyrat, in saving Zenith. The only reason for holding his steps back for Rudeus is Hitogami’s warning, who already told him to avoid making the journey to that place or he would regret it.

In the original light novel series of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, Hitogami, aka the Human God, is described as a manipulative trickster who actively pulls strings from the shadows.

Despite his friendly and jovial front, he is actually a narcissistic entity who uses his apostles for his own benefit. So far in the anime, it has been observed that he really is a caring individual who looks after Rudeus Greyrat.

However, in reality, Hitogami uses Rudeus as a tool to prevent altering a future that is not in his favor. In Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation season 2 episode 18, Rudeus confronts Hitogami about why he's stopping him from going to Begaritt.

Like always, to avoid speaking out the truth, Hitogami continues to beat around the bush, talking about how Rudeus ended up being happy following his advice. If Rudeus follows his intuitions and his responsibilities, nothing will go wrong, but he will become an enemy of Hitogami.

The reason why Hitogami is stopping Rudeus from going to Begaritt is to prevent the future that will eventually be his end. As per Hitogami’s future sight, Rudeus’ arrival in Begaritt will see his reunion with Roxy Migurdia, the protagonist’s magic tutor, which he doesn’t want.

As per his precognition, Rudeus and Roxy’s union gives birth to Laura, a child who is destined to kill him for good. In actuality, Hitogami is a malicious entity who likes to see others suffering and even laughs at their misery.

Given the current storyline of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation light novel, which is way ahead of the anime, Hitogami is not actually the Human God but an evil entity that usurped the original Hitogami.

Hitogami is also responsible for tampering with the world by manipulating the First Dragon God into destroying the other four worlds, tricking Badigadi into splitting Laplace into two beings, and the list goes on. As Hitogami can’t really participate in altering future courses on his own, he needs his apostles to do his bid.

In the future, Rudeus will eventually learn about Hitogami’s sickening games, and his daughter Laura will tag along with Orstead, his biggest sworn enemy, to end the evil trickster once and for all.
