As the name suggests, the Demon Slayer series is set in a world where demons run rampant. The one who started it all is Kibutsuji Muzan, the first-ever demon in existence, who managed to create a horde of demons to achieve his goal. His true goal has always been to achieve true immortality.

Currently, in the anime series, he is technically immortal, but the sun could kill him easily. This is why he wants to find a way to conquer the sun and eventually attain his goal. The manga chapters have given fans a clear picture of whether or not Muzan achieved his goal.

One of the most commonly discussed topics among fans is Muzan's final form in the manga. While most fans criticized it, there are a few reasons why this form makes a lot of sense. User U/Sea-Cherry27 put forth a theory explaining the potential reasons on Reddit.

Why Muzan's final form makes sense in the Demon Slayer manga series

Kibutsuji Muzan is someone who has always detested human beings and considered them to be exponentially inferior. At every turn, he has been quite clear about the disparity in strength when comparing demons to humans. Muzan's final form, moments before he died, resembled a human baby. He grew in size and turned into a toddler-like entity, which, as a form, didn't make sense to the readers. However, there is something poetic about this form.

A reason why Muzan hated humans was weakness. Baby human beings are probably the weakest among them all and heavily reliant on other human beings. A person like Muzan would look at this as a weakness and detest it with every fiber of his being. He is someone who never had his own moral code and did everything in his power to survive and achieve his goal.

One could look at Muzan's final form as Koyoharu Gotouge's way of highlighting just how weak Muzan was all this time. He was someone who scoffed at human beings. Yet, in his final moments, he was defeated by the very people he called weak. Another interesting thing about the final form was that the baby was similar to what Muzan would have looked like when he was a baby.

The final form seen towards the end of the Demon Slayer series might not have been great from a functional or logical standpoint. When Muzan achieved this form, he made himself a bigger target, making it harder to escape the sun's rays. Furthermore, he became immobile in this form. However, there is something quite poetic about Muzan resembling the very thing he despised moments before his death.

Furthermore, the final form seen in the manga could have been affected by Tamayo's medicine as well. The drug she created was extremely potent, and it made Muzan regress considerably. These are some theories and reasons why Muzan's final form resembled a baby in the manga series.
