Chainsaw Man and Powerpuff Girls had an unexpected crossover. An artist on X named @claireiosity made a fanart featuring the characters of mangaka Tatsuki Fujimoto in the style of the latter. It was a combination that a lot of fans didn't see coming and has had a lot of positive reactions, making the tweet go viral with over two hundred thousand likes, as of this writing.

This fanart depicts some characters of the main cast of Chainsaw Man, such as Denji, Power, Aki, Makima, and Kishibe, as if they were part of the Powerpuff Girls show. That can be seen in the art style but also in how they look like the three titular girls and their father, which is something that a lot of fans absolutely adored about this fanart.

An artist on X went viral because of a Chainsaw Man X Powerpuff Girls fanart

An artist on X named @claireiosity went viral online because of this fanart depicting Aki, Denji, and Power in the style of the Powerpuff Girls, with Kishibe fulfilling the role of Professor Utonium, who is the main characters' father and creator. Furthermore, there was also a depiction of Makima as Ms. Sarah Bellum, who is known for her beauty and charisma.

It makes a lot of sense why this post went viral because it is not only a great reprise of the art style that made this cartoon so iconic but also due to how the drawing represents each character so well. Aki, Power, and Denji were a team during the first part of Tatsuki Fujimoto's manga, much like the titular girls, and Kishibe was a sort of mentor figure to them, similar to Professor Utonium, although the latter was the protagonists' father as well.

Makima and Sarah Bellum don't have a lot of similarities when it comes to their characterization and roles in their respective stories, but this is mostly due to their looks. They are both redheads and are canonically very attractive ladies, which is something that the artist took into account with this illustration.

Reactions online

Fans also praised how the illustration captured the essence of the Chainsaw Man characters through the lens of Powerpuff Girls. This is displayed by how Denji is smitten by Makima, much like in the original series, Aki being very serious while also looking similar to Buttercup, and Power being the Bubbles of the group with her extroverted personality as she plays with the cat.

There is also the detail of Kishibe holding his now-iconic alcohol bottle, which has become an intrinsic element of the character. That, complemented with Makima's design and how it depicts her and Sarah Bellum in a very compelling manner, is one of the several reasons that this fanart has gone viral on X.

"Wait this is perfect," someone said.
"whoever did this deserves an award haha" another person said.
"But Professor kishibe accidentally added an extra ingredient to the concoction -- alcohol!" someone else said.

It is a very beautiful and compelling fanart that managed to combine two series that a lot of people might have never associated together.
