With the series’ long two-week break finally over, My Hero Academia chapter 426 is set to officially release on Monday, July 1, 2024, at 12 am JST. However, the series’ return also brings with it the recent confirmation of its conclusion in just 5 issues, set to end on August 5 with chapter 430.

Likewise, fans are understandably desperate to learn what the upcoming installment has in store for them, expecting its focus to indicate what fans can expect from these final issues. While My Hero Academia chapter 426 spoilers aren’t guaranteed to be released in any capacity, it is more likely than not that fans will see some leaks later this week.

That being said, even without spoiler information for the issue, there are several developments and events that fans can count on being present in the issue. Unsurprisingly, many of these focus on the Todoroki family, who is clearly being set up for their swan song in My Hero Academia chapter 426, given chapter 425’s conclusion and the series ending so soon.

My Hero Academia chapter 426 will likely begin with a continued focus on Endeavor from 425’s final panels. This will likely lead to the reveal of Dabi’s current status, followed by a brief flashback detailing his exact situation and what his chances of recovery or survival are. Endeavor will likely get a chance to say some words to Dabi, also known as Toya Todoroki, in private before Shoto Todoroki arrives.

The pair will likely discuss whether or not they did the right thing when it came to fighting against Toya, with Shoto likely being the one to comfort Endeavor here by saying they had no choice. He’ll also likely add that they should appreciate the time they have left with Toya, even if it seemingly won’t be spent in any meaningful way beyond shared presence.

My Hero Academia chapter 426 should then see the rest of the Todoroki family enter, with each getting to speak their peace with Toya. Extra focus should be given to Rei Todoroki here, whose words will likely rouse Toya into giving some sort of response to the family. He’ll likely accept his fate, his responsibility for his actions and current situation, and say that he loves his family before expressing a desire to start over with them.

From here, there are two major routes the series is likely to go which hinge on Dabi’s survival. Both will likely begin with Dabi having some sort of medical issue, which either Endeavor or a nearby doctor should explain to readers.

If Dabi truly is dying here, his final words will likely be spent speaking to Shoto and Endeavor directly, forgiving them for fighting him and playing a role in his eventual death.

If Horikoshi intends to have Dabi survive, the most likely scenario for this to occur would revolve around his Quirk “Awakening” that he demonstrated during the Final War arc. It’s likely that this new version of his Quirk will allow him to repair his body and limbs via prosthetics made of ice, similar to what One Piece’s Aokiji/Kuzan was seen doing in a franchise film.

One alternate scenario could be the famed Dabi Phoenix theory, which would see his Quirk somehow facilitate a full rebirth of his person into a childhood form. However, given what fans know about Dabi’s Quirk and how little time the series has left, this seems the more unlikely (but not entirely so) route for chapter 426 to take.
