My Hero Academia chapter 426 has recently been leaked and most of the focus was on the Todoroki family. Endeavor had his final moments in the series with his son Toya Todoroki, most commonly known by his villain alias of Dabi. This conversation provided Endeavor's character arc with the best possible conclusion.

Endeavor has always been a divisive character in the My Hero Academia family because of the mistreatment he gave his family, although author Kohei Horikoshi put a lot of focus on redeeming him. All of that character work came to fruition during this chapter, finally giving a conclusion to Endeavor's actions and also providing him with a sense of closure that is both logical and satisfying.

Explaining how My Hero Academia chapter 426 gave Endeavor a fitting conclusion to his character arc

Chapter 426 is heavily focused on the Todoroki family, with the revelation that Toya, also known as Dabi, only has a few days left to live and his father Endeavor chose to stay by his side until he finally passes away. Furthermore, Endeavor chose to retire as a hero and even managed to somewhat make amends with Natsuo and Toya, the two sons he had the most problems with.

It is a fitting conclusion for Endeavor's character arc as he managed to face his demons and assume responsibility while also retiring from the hero business, which was the only thing that mattered to him at the beginning of the story. He also managed to make amends with Natsuo and Toya, even if they were never going to fully accept him after everything they went through.

It would be disingenuous to claim that Endeavor was fully responsible for Dabi's actions as the latter was an adult when he chose to take a lot of lives, but the former still stepped up and assumed the responsibility for the things he did wrong.

That feels like a natural conclusion, especially considering how his son Shoto helped to heal their family after everything they went through.

Divisive opinions regarding Endeavor

There is no denying that Endeavor is one of the most controversial characters in the My Hero Academia fandom because of the mistreatment he put his family through over the years, with some readers and viewers unable to sympathize with his character arcs. On the other hand, there are others who have praised author Kohei Horikoshi for working the character's redemption arc without trying to ignore the things Endeavor did wrong.

The nature of Endeavor's character was always bound to be divisive considering it touches the topic of family abuse and the consequences this can have on people. It is bound to always be controversial because of this topic, although is going to be interesting to see how this plot point is perceived once the story ends.

Final thoughts

My Hero Academia chapter 426 has provided a fitting and satisfying conclusion to Endeavor's character arc as he faces his demons and even accepts to retire as a hero. Furthermore, he manages to make a degree of peace with his children, which is something that seemed impossible at one point in the series.
