Dabi, in his fight against Todoriki in chapter 390 of the series, was presumed to be dead. The Todoroki brothers gave their best in this fight. However, it was Shoto who emerged victorious after using his Great Glacial Aegir attack, which left Dabi freezing on the inside. With no signs of movement or life, fans had every reason to believe Dabi had died.
That appeared to be the case until chapter 425, which hinted at Dabi's potential survival. The chapter showed all the faces of the Todoroki family, except for Dabi’s. However, fans could see Endeavor being seated in front of a large machine, while the panels showed the faces of the family. Fans thought that this was Kohei Horikoshi’s way of sending a cryptic message to fans about Dabi’s status.
