Katsuki Bakugo, the deuteragonist of My Hero Academia, is an exceptionally skilled and highly competitive Hero-in-training who has been missing from the battlefield for a considerable amount of time. His absence is due to a deadly injury that he received while confronting Shigaraki, who had attained the full power of All For One. His internal armor, heart, and lungs were severely damaged.

At this point, Pro Hero Edgeshot passionately proclaimed that he could not allow Bakugo's heart to cease beating. Even as life was fading from his body, Edgeshot was prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice in order to compensate for any missing fragments within Bakugo's ripped heart.

Why it is a mistake to not bring Bakugo back

While it is highly unlikely that Bakugo is truly dead, given Horikoshi's tendency to fake out, it remains uncertain whether the mangaka will address Bakugo's fate and provide updates to the readers anytime soon.

Spoilers for the upcoming chapter 389 of My Hero Academia indicate that Bakugo will not make an appearance.

This particular decision by Horikoshi is a misstep, as Bakugo holds significant importance in the overall story and has undergone significant growth. He has reached a level where he can stand alongside top Pro Heroes like Endeavor, Gran Torino, and Best Jeanist.

It is crucial for the character to make a comeback, especially considering his ability to inflict damage on Shigaraki with his Cluster Bombs, a feat many could not do.

Many My Hero Academia fans are not satisfied with the treatment Bakugo has received in the Final War arc. They have found the decision by Edgeshot to sacrifice himself to be uncharacteristic and as a result underwhelming.

Edgeshot's declaration seemed to demonstrate his unwavering resolve to protect and nurture the potential within Bakugo. But it is hard to comprehend how Edgeshot, who has had minimal involvement in Bakugo's journey, suddenly chooses to become his savior.

However the extent of the injuries might not allow him to return to battle again. One thing however should be kept in mind for readers of My Hero Academia, Bakugo might not return to a state of fighting ever again. Even considering the fact that Bakugo does not really have a rival like Izuku has Shigaraki, Shoto has Dabi, and Ochako has Toga, it renders Bakugo as without a goal.

This is something that Horikoshi should have considered and fixed because removing him from the battle in the Final War does disservice to the character. Otherwise his major contribution to the story in a way ends with him mending his relationship with Deku and convincing him to return to U. A. High.
