My Hero Academia epilogue started with the release of chapter 424 and the series is a few chapters away from its climax. As of yet, there are a lot of mysteries that the author should reveal before the series reaches a possible climax, keeping the fandom's hopes high.
But even before the series reaches a climax, what if the author could have already indicated a possible end for the series, during the last phase of the final war arc?
This could be related to an old hand that appeared in a chapter that could belong to Izuku. Moreover, the monologue of Deku in the epilogue chapters could confirm that Izuku retained his position as a hero in the last phase of his life.

Exploring how My Hero Academia hinted at Deku remaining a hero, despite only having the embers of One for All
The final war arc of My Hero Academia saw the return of All for One as a vestige inside the body of Tomura Shigaraki. The villain revealed that he manipulated the birth of Tenko and had intended for him to become his future vessel. The villain kicked Deku out of Tomura's consciousness and became TomurAFO once again.
But the hero wasn't ready to give up. He still had some embers of One for All left inside him and passed them to All for One. This made the villain despair as he watched his brother pass away for good. After this, the vestiges, and Tomura, emerged from within All for One and punched the demon lord to finish him for good.
My Hero Academia epilogue started with the next chapter after the finale of the final war where everyone was recovering from the impacts of the war. Deku and All Might were admitted in the same room as they discussed the events of the war and how Tomura Shigaraki couldn't be saved.
Bakugo entered the room forcibly when Deku revealed that he no longer had his quirk. This sets Bakugo back to the time when he used to mock Deku for not having a quirk. He started crying, but Deku assured him that he still had some embers of One for All left inside him.
After they shared this moment, the chapter shifted to a monologue which was in past tense where Deku shared his thoughts about how they believed that the good times would return once the final war ended. This monologue continued to the latest chapter, indicating that all of this could be Deku telling the tale when he got older.
This could have been confirmed in the past chapters during the final war. In chapter 377, the first panels of the chapters featured the scenery of Sakura blossoms with an old man catching its petals. The monologue during this scene was also in the past tense.
This could mean that around the time of the final war, or maybe even before, the series became a narration from the hero Izuku Midoriya. The narration could be after Deku retired as seen from the old arms that appeared in chapter 377.
