My Hero Academia chapter 429 was recently leaked and confirmed Himiko Toga's fate— her death— which was what most readers assumed after recent events. Readers knew that Toga saved Uraraka by giving her blood, which is why everyone wondered if the former had survived and now the most recent chapter has confirmed that she did not.

Himiko Toga's fate was something that most My Hero Academia saw coming because of what author Kohei Horikoshi had been setting up in recent chapters. This appears to be a fitting conclusion for Toga's tragic character arc, and also serves to add a degree of stakes to the series, which is something Horikoshi had been criticized for throughout the years.

My Hero Academia chapter 429 confirms Himiko Toga's fate and what it means for the series

In My Hero Academia Chapter 429 spoilers, Ochaco Uraraka revealed to Izuku Midoriya that Toga died after she saved Ochako by donating her blood during the Final War arc. While most readers had already anticipated this turn of events, this off-screen confirmation still came as a shock since many fans believed that Toga deserved to have a proper farewell.

During her final moments in the manga, Toga had an inner monologue saying that she lived life as she wanted, but there wasn't a lot of clarity regarding whether she survived the arc or not. However, chapter 428 had Uraraka breaking down and crying because of the memory of Toga, appearing to confirm that the latter died during their battle because of the blood transfusion.

Author Kohei Horikoshi has often been criticized for the lack of casualties in his manga and Toga's death potentially adds a bit of stakes to the recent events in the story. It also adds a tragic element to Toga's character as she never got the proper redemption she wanted and died on her own terms, saving the sole hero who saw her as a person rather than a monster.

The character of Himiko Toga in the series

Himiko Toga might be one of the most tragic My Hero Academia characters, as she is a very good example of Quirk society and how she was rejected from the get-go. Instead of her parents trying to understand her blood Quirk and trying to find a way for her to live peacefully and not affect others, she was shunned and rejected, leading to her eventually joining the League of Villains.

She became endearing to the fandom because of her personality and relationship with the likes of Tomura Shigaraki, Twice, Dabi, and more. Her rivalry with Ochaco Uraraka was also a high point for a lot of fans, which is why many appreciated their final battle and even the most recent conclusion because it added to her tragic nature.

When compared to other villains, she was similar to Twice in the sense she wasn't as evil as Shigaraki, Dabi, or All For One, and yet had one of the most tragic conclusions.

Final thoughts

Himiko Toga's fate was confirmed in My Hero Academia chapter 429 and was what most fans assumed after the events of chapter 428. It was probably the most fitting conclusion for Toga and also added a more tragic conclusion for her and Ochaco Uraraka.
