My Hero Academia season 7 episode 16: Gentle, La Brava, and Nagant aid the heroes as Dabi, Toga, and Kurogiri overwhelm them
My Hero Academia season 7 episode 16 opens with Dabi and Toga's arrival sparking chaos at the Gunga Villa battle site
My Hero Academia season 7 episode 16 begins with Dabi and Toga joining the battle at Gunga Villa. Hawks theorizes that Dabi must've helped Toga obtain Twice's blood, which is confirmed through a brief flashback.
Toga unleashes an endless wave of Twice's doubles with her Sad Man's Parade, overwhelming the heroes, while Dabi engulfs the battlefield in flames to prevent their escape.
At this moment, Ochako and Tsuyu emerge from Kurogiri's portal, determined to continue their talk with Toga about love. However, Toga ignores them, stating she's no longer a maiden in love. The two heroes then reunite with Tokoyami and Jiro. They discuss the need to stop Toga, recognizing that victory is impossible otherwise.
Meanwhile, Endeavor notices Dabi's Phosphor. Concerned for Shoto, he asks Dabi about his status. Dabi admits that Shoto was too strong, adding that even if not all his dreams will come true, he's still determined to take away as many things as possible that Endeavor holds dear.
AFO observes the chaos and rejoices that the battle is tipping in his favor. Seizing the moment, he attempts to escape to join Shigaraki. However, Hawks anticipates this move and stops him, realizing that Shigaraki and AFO are not fully synchronized yet.
Annoyed, AFO admits Shigaraki isn't fully ready as a vessel and still needs his help. Hawks advises Endeavor to focus on stopping Dabi, as their divide-and-conquer strategy has failed. Subsequently, Dabi and Endeavor prepare to commence their battle.
My Hero Academia season 7 episode 16: Toga's doubles strike the Coffin in the Sky as La Brava and Gentle support the heroes
In My Hero Academia season 7 episode 16, the focus shifts to the Coffin in the Sky site. This is where Toga's doubles, transported by Kurogiri's warp, materialize behind Monoma and Aizawa, distracting the heroes. Monoma is thrown forward, which stops his Erasure quirk and allows Shigaraki to regain the use of his quirks.
This is followed by a massive explosion that causes severe damage to the site's construction. Meanwhile, Mandalay reports that their systems have been hacked and the site's levitation system has stopped working. Elsewhere, Skeptic celebrates his successful breach of U.A.'s system.
As Deku receives updates on the situation, paired with Kurogiri's entrance, he questions whether the Central Hospital team has been compromised. With Erasure no longer active, the heroes worry about the potential devastation Shigaraki would unleash.
However, Shigaraki remains still and starts peeling, stating that he cannot have a chat with Deku and declaring himself as Deku's villain.
Deku wonders if Shigaraki's original persona is still present and grapples with how to stop him while preventing the battlefield from crashing down, all while dealing with the backlash from his earlier use of the Gearshift quirk.
The second OFA user, Kudo, appears and reassures him, explaining that since OFA and AFO are resonating, they can sense each other's inside states. Kudo reveals that Shigaraki cannot move freely at the moment, presenting Deku with a critical opportunity.
Meanwhile in My Hero Academia season 7 episode 16, Skeptic's triumph is abruptly interrupted when La Brava hacks his systems, reclaiming control over U.A.'s network and pinpointing Skeptic's location. Despite his attempts to flee, the villain is apprehended by the heroes.
La Brava also tries to write new code to reactivate the levitation system but with time running out, she worries she won't succeed. At that moment, Gentle arrives at the Coffin site and sets up his air trampolines to keep the structure in the air.
A flashback from a month earlier reveals how Gentle thwarted the prison break at Mizuku Prison, earning a chance for redemption alongside La Brava. Back in the present, Gentle uses his Gently Super-Lover move to prevent the site from crashing to the ground.
As news spreads that an air trampoline has averted the disaster, Deku realizes that Gentle has allied with the heroes and saved the day.
My Hero Academia season 7 episode 16 closing scenes: Lady Nagant stops Shigaraki at a crucial moment, saving the heroes
In the ending scenes of My Hero Academia season 7 episode 16, just as Deku is about to celebrate, Banjo warns him that Shigaraki is moving and preparing to touch the ground. While Deku, immobilized by Gearshift's backlash, fears the worst, Lady Nagant's bullet intervenes, severing Shigaraki's arm before it can touch down.
Detective Tsukauchi reflects on All Might's advice to view villains from a human perspective, noting how these villains stepped in this time to help the heroes when hope seems lost. The episode ends with a shot of Lady Nagant atop a building, where she fired her decisive shot.
