The episode began with the Heroes' control room getting updated on the current situation. A mole at the U.A. Sky Coffin was preventing Manami Aiba from gaining full access to its systems. But he was soon caught out. Elsewhere, AFO was closing in, and the Heroes' needed someone to intercept and hold him off.

At the Gunga Site, one of the analysts concluded that Dabi's temperature was steadily increasing—he had stored up too much heat, and in less than 10 minutes, he would annihilate himself and burn up everything within a 5 km radius. There was one major issue—within that same 5 km radius was the evacuation path for the civilians. Circumstances were dire, and there was no one left to help out.

Just then there was static on the comms, and All Might spoke up. With a few rousing words, Shoto and Iida were off to help contain Dabi's oncoming explosion. But more pressingly, there was someone yet to descend on the battlefield—the former No. 1 Hero. With AFO in sight, the two were slated to meet again given their history, and this time, things were different.

Back at Gunga Villa, Endeavor was attempting to lead Dabi away from the civilians. However, the Villain was consumed by his own flames and hatred, responsive to nothing but the abhor he had for his father. He began relentlessly attacking him, grabbing onto his father as he burned even hotter. But this is when Endeavor noticed something—there was a large shard of ice on Dabi's chest, signifying his mother Rei's Ice Quirk. On the verge of death, his Quirk had undergone an awakening and unlocked its full potential.

Just as Endeavor was about to carry Dabi up into the sky for the explosion, Rei appeared, and alongside her, Natsuo, and Fuyumi. The trio were attempting to use their Ice Quirk to cool down Dabi and Endeavor in an attempt to contain the explosion. Out of nowhere, a jet of ice was seen zooming towards Gunga—it was Iida and Shoto, for the latter was the last hope in containing Dabi's explosion.

Reactivating both his Quirks once more, Shoto charged at the location the rest of his family was at. With all he had left, Shoto unleashed one final Great Glacial Aegir on the exploding Dabi. From outside, the sphere of flames seemed to turn to ice before shattering. At its center, Shoto managed to save everyone, freezing Dabi from the inside to stop him from exploding. The episode ended with Endeavor shedding tears as he apologized to each member of his family.

What to expect from My Hero Academia season 7 episode 20

The previous episode adapted the manga till chapter 390. Given this pacing, My Hero Academia season 7 episode 20 should adapt to the next 3/4 chapters. This will likely feature a total shift in scenes on the Ochaco Uraraka vs Togo Himiko bit. With Toga using Twice's Sad Man's Death Parade, she will pick up and focus on Ochaco now.

They do have unfinished business. Moreover, we should get a glimpse at Toga's origins and see her as a child. My Hero Academia season 7 episode 20 should showcase a flashback featuring the League of Villains and an interesting dialogue between Toga and Twice before transitioning back to the present.
