My Hero Academia fans have had a lot of questions over the years, but one of the most prevalent ones is about the identity of Izuku "Deku" Midoriya, Hisashi Midoriya. It is mentioned that he can breathe fire and is working overseas, but Hisashi has never been shown in the series. This is to the point that a lot of fans don't understand why he was never introduced into the story.

However, a recent theory suggests something that could fit with another that was fairly prevalent in My Hero Academia. The theory states that All For One, the main villain of the series, was Deku's father. It seems very unlikely given how the final war arc developed, but there are some elements that make sense and could explain why Hisashi Midoriya was never present in the manga.

New theory regarding Deku's father's identity in the My Hero Academia manga

This theory suggests that All For One knew that he had a chance of actually dying against All Might in their final battle even before the series began. Thus, he decided that he needed a new body to deal with this enemy.

Garaki was experimenting to create a second All For One Quirk, and there was a chance that they discovered how having a kid would help them. They potentially learned that a kid's DNA would give Garaki a greater possibility of having that Quirk since that has been a running pattern in the series.

This could also explain why Deku's mother was chosen since she looks a lot like Nana Shimura, the seventh One For All user and someone she killed. This fits with All For One's twisted sense of humor. It is also interesting to see that Deku and All For One do share an obsession with Quirks and trying to understand, which could be something that the protagonist took from the villain.

This could fit with the fact that Garaki was the doctor who told Deku he was Quirkless as a kid since All For One is not a power that can be executed by accident. Thus, the protagonist wouldn't have found a way to use it without being aware of it. It could also explain why Deku managed to get the full potential of One For All since he has the DNA of the person that Quirk originated from.

The flaws with this theory

It doesn't seem likely that All For One is Deku's father (Image via Bones and Shueisha).

The main issue with this theory, while logical, is that it would be too late into the My Hero Academia story to be introduced. As of this writing, All For One died in the final war arc and the series is now in the epilogue, so it wouldn't make a lot of sense to add a revelation of that ilk.

If anything, this revelation should have taken place during any point in the final war arc and seen the interactions with All For One. However, a plot twist of this final wouldn't add much to the epilogue and would only be shock value, which wouldn't make sense considering that the main threat of the series has ended.

Final thoughts

While this All For One theory does make sense and could add a bit more complexity to some in the My Hero Academia series, it's unlikely to be true. As mentioned earlier, it is too late into the story to add this twist and wouldn't add much at this point.
