One Piece chapter 1127 was released on September 21, 2024, and the chapter inaugurated the journey of the Straw Hat Pirates on Elbaf Island. However, the start of this journey is still bugging the fandom with how Nami was transported inside the mysterious LEGO castle because the character isn't even aware of how she got here.

As expected, the explanation for this lies in a media reference, which is the 1951 cartoon movie Alice in Wonderland. So, the Straw Hat Pirates could just be hallucinating. This was given out through other hints also, like how Luffy wasn't wearing his straw hat, how he called Gear 3 Gear 4, and how Nami had no answer as to who was calling her out.

One Piece: Understanding the Alice in Wonderland reference in the series

One Piece chapter 1126 ended with a strange panel where Nami was being called out, and when she woke up, she found herself in the middle of a LEGO castle. Moreover, before she woke up, someone called her out. One Piece chapter 1127 carried the story of Nami battling against humongous creatures. So, what could all of this be?

All of this could be a reference to the 1951 fantasy movie, Alice in Wonderland. The movie tells the tale of a girl named Alice who dreams about a wonderland in her dream and soon enters it. Similar to Alice, Nami could have entered the LEGO castle while daydreaming, probably due to the Absinthe she had with the giants.

This could be the reason, why she remembers nothing as to why she was transported to this mysterious location. Moreover, the person calling her name could be her real self from the real world, just like how Alice was being called after she was transported to the Wonderland of her dreams.

So, who could be the person who sent Nami to this LEGO castle? This person could be the prince of the giants, Loki, as these could be his powers (either devil fruits ones or normal). Loki's role could be similar to Cheshire Cat, the person who trapped Alice inside Wonderland.

Even though the chapter didn't showcase anything about why Nami drank the Absinthe, the reason could be similar to what happened in Alice in Wonderland as the drink urged Alice to drink it. Absinthe could have also told Nami to drink it, giving Loki similar powers to Big Mom's Soul-Soul devil fruit (giving living properties to non-living objects).

So, how would the Straw Hat Pirates escape the LEGO castle? This would be similar to how Alice escaped Wonderland, as Nami's body in the real world would keep calling out to her body inside the LEGO castle. This could result in Nami's body getting bigger, just like a giant, which is a reference to what Alice became at the end of the movie.

This was even hinted at through the latest color spread of One Piece with a giant Nami. So, the Straw Hat Pirates are indeed under the effect of Absinthe, and the only person who could nullify the effects of this drink could be Nami herself.
