The Naruto female characters have been some of the most overlooked in shonen anime, even though the series is still one of the most talked about alongside One Piece and Bleach. Many fans have expressed that the story did not explore these characters enough despite their being an integral part of the narrative.
Although the amount of fan art and media related to the Naruto female characters has remained scarce, a recent fan art shared on X (formerly Twitter) has managed to gain the attention of many Naruto fans. This fan art focuses on the female cast while also tying them to the 2024 Olympics.

Fanart of Naruto female characters generates hype for Olympics 2024 within the anime fandom
The Naruto series has one of the most extensive and interesting female casts among all other shonen anime. While many of these characters have carved out their own dedicated fandoms, the media around them has remained scarce.
Some fans have also complained that the Naruto and Boruto stories did not focus enough on the female characters. Most discussions regarding the Naruto female characters revolve around slander and hate toward Sakura, which has persisted for years after the series' release.
Olympics 2024 recently started, and one fan took the opportunity to create fan art of the Naruto female characters, depicting them participating in various sports. Although the fan art has not yet reached mainstream Naruto fans, it has managed to garner many reactions and praises from those who have seen it.
Fan reactions to the fanart
Fans took the opportunity to praise the selection of sports assigned to each character, mentioning how well it suits their overall character and skillset. Some fans started pondering how Sakura playing volleyball would be phenomenal due to her athleticism and superhuman strength.
"I thought of Tenten in gymnastics, since she always makes some beautiful moves when she uses the scrolls in fights," one fan mentioned.
"INO SURFER OMG SHE IS SO GOOD," another fan said.
Another fan mentioned how archery and skateboarding would suit Sasuke and Naruto, given their skill sets. While media related to Naruto has been scarce recently, some fans suggested that the fandom should focus on fan art like this instead of generating slander against certain characters.
"Sasuke with archery and Naruto with skateboarding!," one fan wrote.
"Inarguably one of the best fanarts I've seen in a while, hoping the Naruto fandom focuses more on stuff like this rather than the manufactured Sakura hate." one fan said.
Although the current media related to the Naruto series has not focused on the original Naruto female characters, the Boruto series has somewhat started exploring the new generation of female characters through Sarada. The recently announced Naruto x TMNT collaboration has also generated hype within the fandom, with fans wondering about the characters that will make an appearance in the collab comic.
