Nayuta's death is uncertain in Chainsaw Man and the lack of a major detail hints at it

With the release of Chainsaw Man Chapter 170, the manga series again saw its creator Tatsuki Fujimoto giving his protagonist Denji a tough time. While previously he made Denji's situation weird with Asa Mitaka, this time, the manga creator went above and beyond to make his protagonist's life a living hell.

The manga chapter saw Barem reveal that the Public Safety and the remnants of the Chainsaw Man Church wanted to use the Chainsaw Devil's power of erasing concepts. While Denji was unaware of such power, Barem theorized that the Chainsaw Devil's powers must have had something to do with that.

However, to make Denji's Chainsaw Man transformation perfect, there were two requirements - everyone's fear and Denji's unhappiness. Soon after, Barem instructed the head chef to bring "it" down the belt. Shockingly, the dish that turned up was Nayuta's severed head. So, has Nayuta passed away in Chainsaw Man manga?

Chainsaw Man Chapter 170: Nayuta's missing detail suggests that she is alive

While the developments in Chainsaw Man Chapter 170 suggest that Nayuta has passed away, the illustration featured in the chapter also hints at the possibility that she is still alive.

If fans take a closer look at Nayuta's character design, she has always had a mole below her left eye. However, this detail is missing in the chapter, suggesting that Nayuta's severed head might not be the real deal and could be a faux head created by some yet-to-be-revealed devil.

However, the difference in detail is not just surrounding the mole but also Nayuta's cheek. The illustration in the latest chapter has shown Nayuta to have a vein-like growth on her left cheek. That detail could also be a hint of the Control Devil being alive.

With that said, there is no guarantee that Nayuta is alive because the missing key detail could be a mistake made by the manga creator. Tatsuki Fujimoto has forgotten to draw key details for his manga on numerous occasions.

Surprisingly, one of the characters that he previously forgot to add all the details for was Nayuta. Hence, given that it has been some time since Fujimoto drew Nayuta for Chainsaw Man manga, there is a chance that the manga creator must have forgotten the major detail. Thus, the Control Devil's head not having her mole in Chapter 170 was not a clear indication of her being alive.

Some of the other characters that missed major details in the past were Hirofumi Yoshida and War Devil Yoru. Similar to Nayuta, Yoshida's mole previously went missing in the manga.

As for War Devil Yoru, her scar went missing for one manga panel in Chapter 167, leading fans to believe that it was Asa Mitaka and not the War Devil. If such a major detail could be forgotten by the creator, Nayuta's missing mole could also be a mistake.

That said, Nayuta's manga panel in Chapter 170 was too detailed, as per the manga's standards. Thus, it looked like the details were drawn on purpose to help fans notice the lack of mole on her face.

Even Nayuta's hair which usually covers her mole can be seen hanging away from her cheek. Thus, there is a possibility that it was drawn in such a way to help fans get a clear understanding that the mole was missing. Therefore, while Chainsaw Man Chapter 170 hinted at Nayuta's death, fans must wait until the manga outright claims it.
