Dragon Ball is one of the most popular franchises of all time, which is known for a wide variety of reasons. One of the most hilarious reasons is the running meme that its fandom cannot read. It has been a notorious gag for years now because it is claimed by several people that fans of this series don't even read their own favorite anime.

This is obviously meant to be a joke, represented recently on X when a Dragon Ball fan proved that the running gag could be somewhat true. As there was a false image circulating online featuring GT Goku for the Sparking Zero game, a fan asked if it was real even though it was confirmed in the post itself that it was fake. Thus, another user quoted, "never beating the allegations."

Dragon Ball fans not beating the "can't read" allegations in a recent discussion on X

There has been a running joke in the fandom of the Dragon Ball series that other fans shouldn't mess with them because "they don't even read their own favorite anime" or simply "cannot read". While this may seem offensive to some, it is all in good fun and is meant to represent a section of the fandom that sometimes gets things wrong during the series discussion due to not paying attention.

This was further emphasized via a recent post on X because there was a confirmation that the GT Goku, who was teased for the Sparking Zero video game, was false. However, another fan asked if it was real when the actual tweet was already saying that it wasn't. It was an easy target for this discussion and a reminder to a lot of people of this particular joke.

While fans of Akira Toriyama's legendary franchise often get singled out because of this reason, there have been countless examples of people not paying attention to information online, thus leading to a lot of misunderstandings.

As mentioned earlier, there is no denying that the Dragon Ball fandom has had some moments where they have failed to understand some points of their favorite series or have not paid attention to what has been shown in the story.

This is not supposed to offend anyone but it is something that this fandom has struggled with for quite some time. A good example is how Gohan's characterization is still the topic of debate in fan communities, to the point that it appears that people like him for reasons that seem very opposite from one another.

"Bro still asked if is real," a person wrote on X.
"We on the spectrum chill," another person said.
"Honest to God, what is it about Dragon Ball fans?," someone else mentioned.

As stated above, this is all meant to be in good fun and in no shape or form a mockery of Dragon Ball fans. It is simply an example of how a meme came out in real life.
