Solo Leveling season 2 will be released in 2025 under the title Solo Leveling Season 2: Arise from the Shadow, alongside other anime like Sakamoto Days and Re:Zero season 3. Sung Jin Woo's shadows are inarguably one of the most iconic aspects of his character, as all of his abilities are essentially linked to necromancy through shadows.

Sung Jin Woo has recruited numerous iconic shadows into his army, with Igris being his very first. Season 1 of the anime concluded at chapter 45 of the manhwa, adapting a total of 45 chapters within 12 episodes.

Although the episode count for season 2 has not been revealed, based on information from the previous season, it is possible to predict the new shadows that will join Jin Woo's army in Solo Leveling season 2.

The upcoming season is expected to adapt chapters 46-90 of the manhwa, starting from the Red Gate Incident arc and ending on the Return to Demon Castle arc. The shadows will be ranked according to their actual ranks as given in the manhwa.

Orc Generals, Tank, and three other new shadows Sung Jin Woo will gain in Solo Leveling season 2

5) Three Orc Generals

The Three Orc Generals first made their appearance in the Hunters Guild Gate arc, which will be adapted in Solo Leveling season 2. The Three Orc Generals essentially serve as fodder for Sung Jin Woo to dispose of during the events of the Red Gate Incident arc, which also marks his meeting with Tusk before turning him into a shadow.

Although the Orcs eventually blend into the generic shadow soldiers towards the end of the series, they primarily serve as bodyguards for Sung Jin-Ah and Sung Jin Woo's mother.

4) Tank

Tank is one of Sung Jin Woo's most memorable shadows who joined the Shadow Army ranks during the Red Gate Incident arc, which will be the first arc adapted in Solo Leveling season 2. The events of the arc pit Sung Jin Woo against a group of Ice Bears inside a malfunctioning gate.

Tank was one of the Ice Bears that Sung Jin Woo neutralized and assigned a name to. While Tank starts as an elite-grade shadow soldier, he eventually rises to Knight grade by the end of the series. Despite being a simple Ice Bear, Tank is one of Jin Woo's most frequently used shadows, alongside Igris.

3) Iron

Iron is the first shadow extracted by Sung Jin Woo from a human and will be one of the first few shadows recruited into Jin Woo's army in Solo Leveling Season 2. Iron is the shadow of Kim Chul, an A-rank hunter from the White Tiger Guild who entered the Red Gate alongside Sung Jin Woo.

Kim Chul played an antagonistic role at the beginning of the Red Gate Incident arc. He attempted to eliminate Sung Jin Woo during a fight against a stronger opponent, which led to Kim Chul being impaled by Igris and later turned into Iron. Iron rises to the rank of Elite Knight grade by the end of the series.

2) Kaisel

Kaisel is arguably one of the most fan-favorite shadows in Jin Woo's arsenal, standing behind the likes of Beru, Igris, and Tusk. Kaisel is the shadow of a Wyvern named Kaisellin, which served as the mount of Demon King Baran, the final boss of the Return to Demon Castle arc, which will be the last arc of Solo Leveling season 2.

Kaisel serves as Jin Woo's mount and one of his most trusted shadows throughout the story, eventually reaching the rank of Elite Knight grade.

1) Tusk

Tusk is the shadow extracted from Kargalgan during the Hunters Guild Gate arc. Tusk is extracted from an S-rank high orc shaman who served as the main antagonist in the Hunters Guild Gate arc. He starts as an elite knight-grade shadow but eventually climbs to the rank of General grade.

His main strength lies in his mastery of various types of magic, amplified by the Orb of Avarice, a prized item that Sung Jin Woo gave to him. Tusk is one of Sung Jin Woo's most frequently used shadows, alongside Igris and Beru.

Final thoughts

Solo Leveling season 2 has already been confirmed for a release in January 2025. Although the episode count of the anime has not been confirmed yet, it is possible that it has a total of 12 episodes just like season 1.

While Beru would've been the most impactful new shadow in Sung Jin Woo's arsenal, it is not completely known whether season 2 wil adapt the Jeju Island arc.
