A Nobody's Way Up to an Exploration Hero anime reveals theme songs and more in new PV

Friday, June 21, 2024, saw the official website for the A Nobody’s Way Up to an Exploration Hero anime series reveal a new promotional video and key visual for the series. The promotional video previews the ending theme song Strobe Fantasy, performed by May’n, while also revealing the opening theme song UpStart, performed by Amatsuki.

The key visual features the central cast of A Nobody’s Way Up to an Exploration hero in various settings and activities, likely teasing the context in which fans will first meet each in the series. The key visual also features some overlaid Japanese text, but currently available information suggests that nothing of major importance is said here.

The A Nobody’s Way Up to an Exploration Hero anime series is set to debut on Saturday, July 6, 2024, on Tokyo MX, BS-NTV, and ABEMA in Japan. ABEMA will debut the first two episodes at once. Following these premieres, the series will debut on AT-X on July 9 and TV Nagasaki on July 11. The anime will star:

As of this article’s writing, it’s unclear whether or not more cast members will be announced as the anime progresses through its first season. Tomoki Kobayashi is directing the anime at Studio Gekko, with Starry Cube producing. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu is overseeing the series scripts, with Shoko Yasuda designing the characters and Keiji Inai composing the music for the series.

The A Nobody’s Way Up to an Exploration Hero anime serves as the television anime adaptation of author Kaito and illustrator Almic’s original light novel series of the same name. The series originally began as a web novel on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website by Kaito, which began in April 2019 and is still ongoing today. The light novel adaptation began in July 2021 and is also still ongoing today.

Terio Teri also launched a manga adaptation of the light novels in August 2021, which is still ongoing today. The series is published in Akita Shoten’s Dokodemo Young Champion Seinen manga magazine and has currently been collected into three volumes as of this article’s writing.

The story centers on Kaito Takagi, a high school student with a mob character and low status. He’s described as an ordinary explorer wasting his days hunting slimes in dungeons across Japan, but one day encounters a golden slime he’s never seen before. This leads to him getting an extremely rare item called the “servant card,” starting his ascent from forgettable adventurer to memorable hero.
