Saturday, August 3, 2024, saw Aharen-san season 2’s production officially confirmed by the official X public relations account for the anime franchise. The announcement was also made alongside the release of a roughly 60-second promotional video, which mainly focuses on new characters who’ll appear and seemingly be a central part of the season.

A key visual was also released to celebrate the confirmation of the second season, featuring the titular Aharen and her boyfriend, Raido, putting up the number two with their fingers. While Aharen-san season 2 has yet to confirm any release info, it does promise that more information will be revealed soon, which will likely include this information.

Aharen-san season 2 production confirmation suggests, but doesn’t confirm, 2025 release

Again, while Aharen-san season 2 did not confirm any release information, the timing of the announcement suggests that the series will premiere sometime in the 2025 calendar year. This would be typical of the gap in time between a series’ confirmation and release, with such conformity being heavily suggested by the release of a trailer with the announcement.

Unfortunately, no news of casting or staff information for the upcoming second season was released as a part of this latest batch of announcements. While this does suggest that there’ll be no major changes on the production side heading into season 2, this is unconfirmed as of the time of this article’s writing.

In turn, fans can expect Felix Film studios to return in an animation role, with Yasutaka Yamamoto and Tomoe Makino directing. Takao Yoshioka seems likely to return for scriptwriting as well, with Satoru Kosaki, Oliver Good, and Keita Inoue also likely to return. It’s also assumed that Crunchyroll will once again stream the anime internationally as it airs in Japan weekly.

Inori Minase as Reina Aharen and Takuma Terashima as Raido have at least been confirmed as returning cast via the anime’s official website. Unfortunately, there are no other cast members listed on the official site as of this article’s writing. However, there will almost certainly be additional castings made for the second anime season at some point in the near future.

Aharen-san season 2 will serve as the continuation of the television anime adaptation of author and illustrator Asato Mizu’s original manga series. The manga ran from January 2017 to April 2023 in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ digital publication service. The full title of the original series is Aharen-san wa Hakarenai.

The series follows first-year high school student Raido Matsuboshi, who struggles with making friends. He tries to talk to his classmate next to him and thinks she’s ignoring him, but eventually realizes that she was shunned by others for being clingy, awkward, and timid. This is Reina Aharen, whom Raido decides to befriend and help come out of her shell, in turn helping him out of his own.
