Kiyo in Kyoto: From the Maiko House follows the story of Kiyo Nozuki, a girl who shared the dream of becoming a maiko alongside her childhood friend Sumire Herai. When the two finally moved to Kyoto hoping to become maiko, Kiyo was deemed unfit for the position. Instead, she was hired as a live-in cook.

As for Sumire, she fit the position perfectly and was made to undergo training to become a maiko. While Kiyo was disheartened, she did not let her failure upset her and decided to help her troupe by using her strongest weapon, her cooking skills. Thus, the manga series follows the story of Kiyo Nozuki, who cooks delicious meals for the maikos to support them daily.
