Attack on Titan cover leak reveals a shocking new focus

Attack on Titan as a manga ended back in 2021 but not without controversies as a lot of fans voiced their discontent with how the series concluded. Now author Hajime Isayama has released a new volume 35, including an art book of the manga, titled The Fly, and an 18-page all-new chapter following the story's original ending.

While Isayama had already added eight pages to improve the original Attack on Titan ending, this new chapter suggests that he is still not happy with how the series ended and the cover suggests a key focus on the aftermath. The Mikasa and Eren situation was a major problem for a lot of people, but this new art book is likely to be highly appreciated by the fandom as a whole.

Attack on Titan is getting a special chapter in the manga, titled Volume 35, which will release in 2024

Attack on Titan volume 35 is an art book by Hajime Isayama. Titled The Fly, it will also feature a new chapter of his hit series and will release on April 30, 2024. The cover seems to give fans a glimpse into what to expect from the upcoming release. It suggests that it is going to focus on the surviving characters' lives after the events of The Rumbling.

In a press release, Isayama shed light on the new volume, and as per Hypebeast, he said:

“It’s been about two-and-a-half years since the serialization of Attack on Titan ended. We are now releasing a color art book. I’m very honored. I’m glad that the culmination of everything I’ve done so far has been compiled into a book. And I’m currently writing a new manga for this art book. This is a bonus manga included in the bonus ‘Attack on Titan Volume 35.’ I hope you’re looking forward to it.”

The series' ending and the criticism it received

It's no secret in the manga and anime community that Hajime Isayama received a lot of criticism for the series' ending. There were reports of people sending him death threats and the author also had to issue an apology because of the quality of the ending.

However, there were hopes in the fandom that the anime adaptation by MAPPA, which is bound to end this year in November, would make some attempts to rewrite the ending. But according to some leaks, that doesn't seem to be the case and the story's conclusion, with Eren's misguided love for Mikasa and other things that were criticized, is likely to remain the same.

This doesn't negate the series' quality for the vast majority of its story and how it has become a cultural phenomenon through its anime adaptation.
