On Friday, July 5, 2024, the staff for Blue Exorcist season 4 shared a trailer and visual during the show's stage event at Anime Expo 2024 and announced that the sequel will run for two consecutive cours. The first cour, Beyond the Snow Saga will air in October 2024, while the second cour, The Blue Night Saga, will begin in January 2025.
The anime celebrated its return with season 3 last year, covering the Shimane Illuminati arc from Kazue Kato's eponymous series. Studio VOLN, the new studio that produced the previous season, will be in charge of the sequel. Crunchyroll is set to stream the series worldwide.
Blue Exorcist season 4's trailer confirms October 2024 premiere
The official staff for the Blue Exorcist season 4 (Beyond the Snow Saga) streamed a trailer at Anime Expo 2024 on Friday, June 5, 2024, to confirm that the sequel will be released in October 2024.
Additionally, it was announced that Blue Exorcist season 4 will have a half-year run or two consecutive cours. The first part is titled Beyond the Snow Saga (Yuki no Hate-hen), and it will premiere in October 2024. On the other hand, the second cour, titled The Blue Night Saga, is set for the Winter 2025 run (January 2025).
The sequel continues the adaptation of the Shimane Illuminati Saga, which encompasses both Beyond the Snow Saga and The Blue Night Saga. Interestingly, the latest promotional video for season 4 shows Rin and Yukio Okumura, and the other Exwire members.
The PV teases Yukio's internal conflict, which will become a pivotal plot point in the Beyond the Snow Saga. Besides teasing the sequel's events and showcasing the familiar characters, the trailer previews the opening theme song, Re Rescue, performed by Reol.
Additionally, the staff unveiled a key visual for Blue Exorcist season 4 (Beyond the Snow Saga). The illustration depicts the brothers, Rin Okumura and Yukio Okumura standing back to back, holding their weapons.
Rin wields his Koma sword, Kurikara, while his brother is seen holding his gun. Besides them, the key visual features Shura, Renzo, Ryuuji, Izumo, Shiemi, Konekomaru, Lewin Light, and other important characters.
Blue Exorcist season 4 serves as a sequel to the previous installment, which premiered on January 6, 2024, in Japan. Daisuke Yoshida directed season 3 at Studio VOLN, with Toshiya Ono overseeing the scripts. Yurie Ohigashi designed the characters, while Kohta Yamamoto and Hiroyuki Sawano composed the music.
What to expect in Blue Exorcist season 4?
As stated earlier, Blue Exorcist season 4 will be separated into two cours. Considering season 3 ended the adaptation at chapter 68 from Kazue Kato's manga, season 4's first part, Beyond the Snow Saga, will pick up the adaptation from chapter 69 and continue with the Exorcist Exam arc and delve into the Aomori Hachirotaro Arc.
Beyond the Snow Saga centers around Rin and Yukio embarking on a mission to find and rescue Shura Kirigakure from her family's curse in Aomori. During this mission, Yukio will go through an inner conflict regarding his existence. On the other hand, the Blue Night Saga will answer many pivotal questions fans may have about the series.
