Blue Lock - Episode Nagi film will be released in August for Indian theaters
The Blue Lock - Episode Nagi film was announced following the end of the highly praised Blue Lock Season 1 anime. Although the anime had previously been released exclusively in Japan on April 19, 2024, and made its way to American screens on June 28, it continued to be released in European, Middle Eastern, and African countries throughout July.
While the news of the Blue Lock - Episode Nagi movie eventually making its way to Indian theaters was revealed by Crunchyroll in April 2024, a specific release date was not announced. Recently, the official X account of PVR revealed that the movie would be released in Indian theaters on August 30, 2024.
The movie’s Japanese release alone was deemed successful and became one of the top movies in the Japanese box office during its opening weekend. The movie hasn’t been listed on PVR’s website yet, but it will soon be listed, with tickets becoming available shortly before its official release. The Blue Lock - Episode Nagi film is a direct adaptation of a spin-off manga with the same name, written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Kota Sannomiya.
The movie has been animated by Studio 8-Bit, which previously worked on the That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime series, as well as Blue Lock Season 1 and the upcoming Blue Lock Season 2.
The original voice actors of the main cast, including Yoichi, Nagi, and Bachira, will be returning in the movie. Ishikawa Shunsuke, who has previously worked on series like My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU, Monogatari Series: Second Season, and Nisemonogatari, has directed the Blue Lock - Episode Nagi film.
The movie is a prequel to the original Blue Lock series and adapts Nagi’s life before he found football and made his way into the Blue Lock program.
