Unison Square Garden will return for Blue Lock Season 2 opening

On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, the official website and X (formerly Twitter) account of Blue Lock anime unveiled that Unison Square Garden will perform the opening theme song for Blue Lock Season 2.

This will be the third time the pop band performs for the anime as they had previously created the opening theme song for the anime's first cour and the ending theme song for the second cour.

The opening theme song will be called "Boujaku no Charisma."

The promotional video allows fans to enjoy a 30-second preview of the opening theme song. Additionally, it hints at some of the events that will take place in the anime's upcoming story arcs, i.e., the Third Selection Arc and U-20 Arc.

This is evident from the snippet that shows teams "A," "B," and "C." Out of the 35 remaining players in Blue Lock, the top 6 will be assigned as the leaders of teams A, B, and C in pairs. Hence, the remaining 29 players need to choose whom they want to play with to showcase their skills. The best players will be picked for the starting eleven for the match against the U-20 Japanese National Team.

Another snippet shows a flashback encounter between siblings Rin Itoshi and Sae Itoshi. This scene is originally featured during the U-20 Arc in the manga.

Tomoya Tabuchi, the bassist from Unison Square Garden, also shared a comment on the opening theme song. He shared how the pop band wished to convey a message that would be best in this age of diversity where "fighting and winning is not everything."

Given that they had already written all that they needed to in the previous opening theme song, this time, they opted for a personal bird's eye view of the same. With that, Tomoya thanked fans for their support.
