BONES' The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant anime unveils theme songs with main trailer

On Friday, June 21, 2024, the official website and X (formerly Twitter) handle for The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant anime shared the main promotional video. Aside from showcasing the important characters, the short video revealed the anime's opening and ending theme songs and their artists.

Fully titled The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies, the fantasy romance anime serves as an adaptation of the late author, Cocoa Fujiwara's manga series.

The manga was serialized in Square Enix's Monthly Gangan Joker magazine from September 2013 to November 2015 for 21 chapters, which were later collected into three tankobon volumes. Studio BONES is in charge of the production of this series.

The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant anime's main trailer confirms the opening and ending theme songs and their artists

As mentioned earlier, the official staff for The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant anime streamed the main trailer on Friday, June 21, 2024. The promotional clip previewed the romance-fantasy anime's opening theme song, Mikansei Rendezvous (Incomplete Rendezvous in English), performed by Lezel.

The staff also revealed that the voice actors of Byakuya Mimori (Yuki Ono), and Miller (Mai Nakahara), have performed the ending theme song, Itsumo Futari Ga Li Ne, which translates to It's Nice That The Two of Them are Always Together in English.

Both opening and ending theme songs will be available for streaming starting from July 9, 2024. Interestingly, a comment from the opening theme song artist, Lezel, has arrived on the anime's official site.

The artist mentioned that she has sung the song with all her heart, hoping to empathize with the main heroine, Byakuya, and the feelings that are hidden in the hearts of everyone, who cherishes the anime.

Aside from the theme songs, the main PV features never-seen-before footage from The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant anime. The short clip teases the main story, depicting a comical and dramatic love story between Miller (Mira), the strategist of an evil organization, and Byakuya Mimori, a magical girl.

It was earlier mentioned that The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant anime will be released on July 9, 2024, at 10:45 PM JST on AT-X in Japan. Following that, the show will air on Tokyo MX and BS11 channels.

Notably, the series will air 15-minute-long episodes. A panel will be held at the Anime Expo 2024 on July 4, 2024, where the first three episodes will be premiered.

Mai Nakahara stars as Shun Miller in this fantasy anime, while Yuki Ono voices Byakuya Mimori. Mariya Ise plays Hibana's role, while Shinichiro Miki stars as Byakuya's Angel. Hikaru Midorikawa plays the Hibana's angel, while Kenichi Suzumura voices Fomalhaut.

Other cast members include Hiro Shimono as Alcyone, Ayako Kawasuni as Bellatrix, Nao Toyama as Spica, Takaya Hashi as Betelgeuse, and Takumi Yamazaki as Sedalsudh.

Akiyo Ohashi directs the series at Studio BONES, with Haruko Iizuka as the character designer, and Yuniko Ayana as the script supervisor and series composer. MAYUKO is listed as the music composer.

The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant anime centers around Shun Miller, the brain behind an evil organization that wants to eradicate Earth.
