The music label King Amusement Creative announced a Classic Stars anime project on Monday, July 1, 2024, stating that it was in production and part of the overarching project of the same name. The news, announced alongside the release of a teaser promotional video for the anime series, also confirmed a general 2025 release window.

Additionally, the first PV for the Classic Stars anime project also confirmed the starring cast for the series as well as the roles they’ll all play within. There were also two key visuals released, with the first showing this starring group of characters at what appears to be a school of sorts. The second key visual sees the foursome, now in completely different and much more regal outfits, seemingly on a stage getting ready to perform.

The Classic Stars anime will star Yuma Uchida as Beethoven, Kent Ito as Mozart, Shun Abe as Chopin, and Shoya Ishige as Liszt. UNISON and King Records are credited with the original work, while Noriyasu Agematsu is credited with the original planning as well as being an executive producer for the anime. Akifumi Kaneko is credited as a production supervisor.

Hideaki Oba is directing the anime series at Platinum Vision Studios, with Shingo Nagai overseeing the series scripts. The aforementioned Agematsu from Element Gardens is the music producer for the anime. Hitoshi Fujimo, Ryota Tomaru, and Yusuke Takeda (also all from Elements Garden) are composing the music at King Records. Yoko Sato is adapting Tomoko Yoshida from UNISON’s original character designs from animation.

The series takes place at Gloria Private Academy, a place where rising stars in music, the arts, and even sports gather together to excel at and hone their respective crafts. In the school’s music department, aspects of famous musicians called a “Gift” are implanted into the bodies of compatible students who can match their talent.

Each of those students is then called by the names of those past masters once they receive the “Gift” in question. Likewise, the series focuses on Uchida’s character Beethoven, who finds he is compatible with Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Gift” and is likewise admitted to the school. Here, he meets the rest of the series’ starring cast, and presumably many other characters who are students at Gloria Private Academy.

King Records, Unison, Broccoli, and King Amusement Creative first announced the overarching Classic Stars project in 2018. They dubbed it their second “music and heart-pounding crossover project” following Uta no Prince Sama. As of this article’s writing, the Classic Stars anime is currently the only announced piece of media for the overarching project. It is expected that, as the anime’s release draws nearer and passes, additional supplementary media will be released.
