Danmachi season 5 announces early Spring 2025 release window for episode 12 and beyond

On Friday, December 27, 2024, the official website and X (formerly Twitter) account for Danmachi season 5 unveiled a key visual and announced that the series will air the remaining episodes (12-15) in early Spring 2025.

Notably, the anime's 12th episode, scheduled to be released on December 20, 2024, was delayed indefinitely due to production issues. Subsequent episodes also met the same fate.

Although the official staff hasn't provided an exact return date for Danmachi season 5's climax, the longer delay suggests the staff wants to end the season on a high note with captivating animation.

According to the latest update from the official staff, Danmachi season 5 will return in early Spring 2025 and air episode 12 and beyond (dubbed The Faction War Climax) on Tokyo MX, BS11, AT-X, and other channels in Japan. While staff hasn't provided an exact return date, the Spring season for anime usually begins in April. Fans will have to wait for further updates from the staff.

Notably, the news of Danmachi season 5's return has arrived with a "Faction War Climax" key visual, featuring Ottar and Bell Cranel. Ottar, the strongest Freya Familia member, has a monstrous appearance in the visual. However, Bell seems undeterred by Ottar's powers, as he stands up against him.

Previously, the J.C.Staff-produced anime's official staff shared a statement to confirm the postponement of Danmachi season 5 episode 12 and beyond due to production reasons. Although the staff didn't highlight the specific reason, they wanted to ensure the anime retained high-quality animation.

Instead of episode 12, the anime's staff aired a special episode, titled Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? V: Goddess of the Harvest Arc Cast Gathering Party on Friday, Tokyo MX, BS11, and other channels in Japan on December 20, 2024.

Prior to episode 12, the series' episode 9 was also delayed from November 29, 2024 (ABEMA release) to December 6, 2024, due to production issues. It seems the staff doesn't want to repeat such a delay and focus on completing the climax's production.

Danmachi season 5 premiered on October 5, 2024, on Tokyo MX, BS11, and AT-X, following its early release on ABEMA Premium on October 3, 2024. HIDIVE, Bilibili, and other streaming services stream the series in selected regions.

The series stars Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Bell Cranel, Inori Minase as Hestia, Shizuka Ishigami as Syr Flova, Yoko Hikasa as Goddess Freya, Saori Onishi as Ais Wallenstein, Ryokan Koyanagi as Ottar, Saori Hayami as Ryu, and others.

Hideki Tachibana directs the series at J.C. Staff, with Fujino Omori (original author) and Hideki Shirane as series composers. Shigeki Kimoto designs the characters, while Keiji Inai is the music composer. EGG Firm is credited as the show's production company.

Danmachi season 5 covers the Goddess of Fertility Arc and Freya Saga (volumes 16-18) from Fujino Omori's original light novel series. The season explores Goddess Freya's obsession with Bell Cranel, leading to various incidents in Orario.
