On Monday, November 18, 2024, a new website and X (formerly Twitter) account were opened to announce the production of Dekin no Mogura anime (The Banned Mogura/Mole). The official staff has shared a teaser promotional video and visual to confirm that the series, based on Natsumi Eguchi's eponymous manga series, will premiere in July 2025. Yuichi Nakamura has joined the primary cast.
Natsumi Eguchi launched the manga series on Kodansha's Morning Magazine in April 2021. Since then, the publishing company has collected the manga's chapters into seven tankobon volumes, with the eighth volume slated to be released on November 21, 2024. Brain's Base is in charge of the anime adaptation's production.

The latest promotional video for the Dekin no Mogura anime features Momoyuki Mogura, the central character, who is seen collecting ghosts in a lantern. The short clip gives fans an idea about the anime's backdrop and shows Mogura in his characteristic persona.
Yuichi Nakamura has joined the anime's voice cast as Momoyuki Mogura, a man who hides in a bathhouse from the world and collects the ghost lights in a lantern. He uses it as a guidepost for their departure to the afterlife.
Notably, Yuichi-san is best known for his contribution to the Jujutsu Kaisen anime as Satoru Gojo. Besides Gojo, Yuichi-san has voiced many other characters, like Tetsuro Kuro from Haikyuu!, Hotaru Oreki from Hyouka, and others.
The official website for the Dekin no Mogura anime has shared a comment from Yuichi Nakamura, who mentions how impressed he was with the way the story uniquely conveys its message. Yuichi-san loved the blend of comedy, supernatural, and war stories in the narrative.
Besides the promotional video, the official staff has also unveiled a teaser visual for the Dekin no Mogura anime. The illustration depicts Momoyuki Mogura standing on a drawer street with a glowing lantern in hand. The scene creates an eerie yet fascinating atmosphere.
The anime's official team has also shared a comment from Natsumi Eguchi, the original creator. Natsumi-san is grateful for the anime adaptation. The author hopes that fans will enjoy the series. They add that the voice actors and the music for the work are a project match. Natsumi-san also looks forward to watching the anime.
Staff and the plot of Dekin no Mogura anime
Hiroshi Ishiodori directs the mystery comedy anime at Brain's Base studios, with Shinzo Fujita supervising the scripts. Yoko Tanabe is enlisted as the character designer, while Tomoki Hasegawa is composing the show's music.
Based on Natsumi Eguchi, Dekin no Mogura anime follows university students Magi and Yaeko, who witness a Kojien dictionary falling on the head of a person and hurting him. That person turns out Momoyuki Mogura, a man who collects ghost lights in his lantern. Since their counter with Mogura, Magi, and Yaeko begin seeing strange phenomena.
