Thursday, June 13, 2024, saw Delicious in Dungeon season 2 officially confirmed as being in production on the official X (formerly Twitter) account for the smash-hit Winter 2024 anime series. The news was confirmed via a new trailer and key visual, with the English version of the latter quite literally and plainly reading, “season 2 confirmed.”

The promotional video for Delicious in Dungeon season 2 did reveal new scenes from the upcoming season, notably via the presence of a monster-fied Falin and Namari eating monster food. The other major new scenes came at the end of the trailer, which showed the Mad Mage preparing to fight Laios and co with a horde of monsters at his command.

Unfortunately, the currently available promotional material for Delicious in Dungeon season 2 did not reveal any release information for the upcoming season whatsoever. However, with some new scenes in the announcement trailer, fans can likely count on the series being released sometime before 2025’s end.

Unfortunately, there’s not much information to be gleaned beyond the new scenes from the Delicious in Dungeon season 2 trailer highlighted above. The key visual is fairly simple and shows Laios’ party interacting with several Walking Mushrooms, one of which is much bigger than they are. However, there’s not much else of significance in the key visual artwork.

The second season was confirmed shortly after the first season’s conclusion, with its 24th episode overall on Thursday, June 13. The series had been streaming on Netflix throughout the Winter 2024 and Spring 2024 anime seasons during its continuous two-cour run. Netflix released the episodes for streaming weekly, a decision which fans heavily praised given the series’ dramatic nature.

The series follows Laious Touden, who originally leads a party consisting of him, his sister Falin, half-elf magician Marcille Donato, halfling Chilchuck Tims, and others. However, the series opens with Laios and Co. being defeated by a dragon and Falin being eaten. Having lost all their food and money, they decide to try to rescue Falin by going immediately back into the dungeon and eating monsters in order to sustain themselves, then meeting dwarf Senshi.

Delicious in Dungeon season 2 will serve as the continuation of author and illustrator Ryoko Kui’s original seinen manga series of the same name. The series was originally published by Enterbrain in their Harta magazine, running from February 2014 to September 2023. The original manga ended with 97 total chapters compiled into 14 volumes. 13 of the 14 volumes have been translated and released into English as of this writing, with the 14th coming in July 2024.
