On June 16, 2024, it was reported that the Demon Slayer Hashira Training episode 7 & 8 will have extended timelapse, even though it is not the last episode of the sequel. The official announcement was made through the official X account of the series.
Demon Slayer Hashira Training started with a 40-minute special episode. The reason for including so much anime-original content could be because the sequel is adapting the smallest arc from the source, the manga series. So, to meet the episode count of a normal TV series, anime-original content is crucial in addition to the sequel.

What has happened so far in Demon Slayer Hashira Training?
Demon Slayer Hashira Training arc (season 4) started with a spine-chilling anime-original scene of the Serpent and Wind Hashira as they were about to infiltrate the Infinity Castle. After this scene, the Hashira gathered and discussed the awakening of the demon slayer mark, something Mitsuri and Tokito recently experienced.
They explained their feelings during the awakening of this mark, and the Hashira decided to start the Hashira Training arc— hence the name of the sequel— to gather as many demon slayers who could awaken the demon slayer mark. The sequel saw Tanjiro soaring through every Hashira's training course one at a time.
He first encountered Tengen's training session and was alone to progress towards the next session where he encountered Tokito's training session and learned to control his swordplay. After passing, he entered Mitsuri's training session and enjoyed some sweets, while learning to increase the flexibility of his body.
He then entered Iguro's training session, who was angry about Tanjiro getting close to Mitsuri. The Hashira didn't go easy on the protagonist but Tanjro passed the test. He then entered Shinazugawa's training session and was involved in a family fight between Genya and the Wind Hashira. Demon Slayer Hashira Training episode 5 ended with Tanjiro arriving at the training session of the Stone Hashira, Gyomei.
