Thursday, October 17, 2024, saw Dr. Stone season 4 reportedly confirmed for a January 2025 release window by several unofficial sources on X. The most notable and reputable of these unofficial sources is @WSJ_manga (Shonen Jump News), a trusted general anime and manga unofficial information source.
Corroborating this initial report on Dr. Stone season 4 from Shonen Jump News were several other X accounts that are still reputable, but not quite as so. In any case, while no official word has been given on the anime’s release window, fans can safely presume that the first of three final cours for the beloved series will begin this January.
Dr. Stone season 4 will mark the beginning of the end of Senku’s journey in January 2025
To be more precise, January 2025 will see the first of three cours making up Dr. Stone season 4 premiere. These three cours will carry the series to its conclusion, with roughly 90 chapters left to adapt in the series. This pacing will also match that of previous seasons, ensuring a consistent feel to the final season. Likewise, fans can expect the final season to not be rushed in any way, shape, or form.
However, it’s worth stressing that this January 2025 release window has yet to be validated by any official source relative to the anime. However, fans can expect this news to officially come in the next few weeks if the January 2025 release window is indeed accurate. This would likewise put the anime’s premiere as a part of the Winter 2025 season, with Crunchyroll presumably streaming the fourth season as it has the rest of the series.
However, what fans are more curious about for Dr. Stone season 4 is exactly what it will cover. While Senku and co are still identifying Why-man as their chief enemy for now, it’s presumed that the season won’t immediately dive into this final confrontation. Likewise, viewers are curious as to who will step up to the plate considering all previously introduced antagonists have been dealt with in one way or another.
Luckily, those fans who are particularly impatient can turn to the original manga series from author Riichiro Inagaki and illustrator Boichi. The pair’s manga began in March 2017, running for nearly five years to the day in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine before ending in March 2022. The manga concluded with a total of 232 chapters, which were collected into 27 compilation volumes.
The series’ television anime adaptation began in July 2019 and is animated by TMS Entertainment. The first season ran for 24 episodes from July to December 2019, followed by an 11-episode second season, which ran from January 2021 to March 2021. The anime then aired a television special in July 2022, followed by a 22-episode third season, which ran in split cours from April to June 2023, and October to December 2023.
