Thursday, June 20, 2024, saw Marvelous Europe unveil an extended trailer for their monster-farming/action game Farmagia, and also announce an anime project in production. Unfortunately, neither the trailer for the game nor additional comments from Marvelous Europe revealed any additional information about the anime project in production.

However, it’s unsurprising that the Farmagia game will be receiving an anime adaptation, as the game’s art and character designs are credited to Hiro Mashima, the author and illustrator of the Fairy Tail manga. While divisive among fans, Mashima’s manga-turned-anime series is one of the most commercially successful in history in both mediums.

Farmagia game confirms anime adaptation but offers no additional info

That being said, it’s likely that the Farmagia game’s anime adaptation will share new information sometime within the next few weeks and months given the game’s release date. The game is set to launch for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Windows PC via Steam on Friday, November 1, 2024. The game will be available in both physical and digital formats.

The Farmagia game is set in an “underworld nation of Felicidad,” where generals known as the Oración Seis control one of the six continents in the nation, with the Magus reigning over them. The game’s story begins with the death of the previous Magus, who is replaced by a new Magus who intends to “create a ruling class through a process of elimination.”

Players take control of Ten, with the game’s title being a direct reference to Ten’s official title as a monster farmer. As Ten, players will cultivate the farm, raising and taking control of monsters to take on opponents and free Felicidad from the oppressive Magus.

Monsters can be trained and fused together to create powerful new forms that otherwise couldn’t be accessed. The game was originally titled Project Magia when first announced in May 2023.

Kohei Amasaki will voice Ten, while Ayane Sakura voices Ten’s childhood friend Arche and Inori Minsae voices another of Ten’s childhood friends, Chica. Additionally, Atsumi Tanezaki voices the game’s mascot, Lookie-Loo. Sakura and Minase are specifically said to perform the game’s theme song dis-dystopia, while the trailer reveals and previews what appears to be the anime project’s theme song Life is Beautiful, performed by Asian Kung-Fu Generation.

Mashima’s flagship Fairy Tail manga series first began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine manga publication in August 2006. The series was regularly serialized there until its conclusion in July 2017. The series’ 545 chapters were collected into 63 compilation volumes, all of which are available in English.

Mashima is also the mangaka behind Edens Zero, which began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen magazine in June 2018. However, the series is slated to end with its next release as of this article’s writing, on June 26, 2024.
