In a somewhat unprecedented turn of events, Monday, July 15, 2024 saw some intriguing hints regarding One Piece chapter 1121 posted by X (formerly Twitter) user and reputable series leaker @pewpiece (Pew). This information, which Pew sourced from other reputable series leakers such as ScotchInformer and shared on the social media platform, claim that “the Egghead arc isn’t finished yet.”

However, these initial One Piece chapter 1121 hints, for lack of a better term, also claim that “the chapter features major characters” and “IS GOOD,” according to SchotchInformer’s assessment. While unclear what these enigmatic statements mean as of this article’s writing, there are a few likely (but sadly currently unconfirmable) options as to what they suggest.

One of the most instinctive and understandable initial guesses on what the words of Pew and others could mean is that One Piece chapter 1121 does a major shift in perspective. This is primarily supported by the claim that the issue does feature “major characters,” but apparently doesn’t conclude the Egghead arc. Given that the Straw Hats are actively escaping the island, this strongly suggests a full shift in focus to somewhere outside of Egghead Island.

One of the most likely candidates here is Imu, who has been seen several times during the arc. However, fans have yet to learn their true reaction to Dr. Vegapunk’s message, which could possibly be revealed in chapter 1121’s events. Imu would also certainly qualify as a “major character,” and a focus on them would not only delay the Egghead arc’s conclusion, but also possibly set up exactly how it will conclude.

Another key option is the status of Monkey D. Garp, who was left frozen on Hachinosu Island once fans last saw him. This focus also seems likely due to the fact that it would naturally also focus on the Blackbeard Pirates, who are seemingly planning something big. Fans would also get a focus on Aokiji, also known as Kuzan, and possibly get a chance to learn his true feelings on having to fight his former mentor in Garp.

It’s also likely that One Piece chapter 1121 could be a flashback chapter, further supported by the fact that the Iron Giant Emeth seems set to sacrifice himself in battle. With this in mind, a flashback explaining his relation to Joy Boy and how he ended up in his current metallic form could precede the climactic, sacrificial conclusion of the arc.

In the same breath, a flashback focusing on the Gorosei could also be likely, especially as they’re confronted by Emeth who is a former ally of Joy Boy’s based on context clues. In any case, however, currently available information has made it clear that the Straw Hats and Egghead’s temporary events likely won’t be the issue’s main focus.
